  • Patent number: 6457613
Abstract: A container equipped with a rupturable retaining seal which, when broken, forms a spout from which the contents of the container may be poured. The rupturable seal is secured along its peripheral edge to the top opening of the container and contains a pinpoint hole at its epicenter. Arranged serially about the pinpoint hole in spoke-like fashion, are an impressed pattern of separable incisions which, when pressure is applied, separate and form an opening from which the contents of the container can be poured.

  • Patent number: 6315137
Abstract: A modified structural channel member is formed to include an indented region, or detented region, within the web portion of the channel. The indented portion, in conjunction with one flange of the channel, may be used as a connector in a cantilever rack structure. Alternatively, when formed to include a detented portion, a pair of such channels may be used as a shelf support structure, with a support beam resting between the pair of detented portions. A conventional channel member may be processed by a punch and die, or alternatively, by a rolling technique, to form the modified structural channel structure of the present invention. A plate may be used in place of a channel, with the plate similarly processed to include any desired indent or detent structure.

  • Patent number: 6314659
Abstract: A device and method for extending the useful life of a carrying fabric in a dryer by maintaining the edges of the fabric at a temperature below that at which thermal degradation occurs. This is achieved by applying a cooling liquid to the edges of the carrying fabric so that thermal energy can be transferred from the fabric to the liquid and thus maintain the edges of the fabric at moderate temperatures.

  • Patent number: 6276561
Abstract: A scuba cylinder which does not roll. The cylinder is comprised of sloped panels which from a body that is triangular in cross section. The outer surface of the body is circumscribed with longitudinally extending channels which direct the flow of water evenly over its surface. Included on the cylinder body, on adjacent panels, are elongated recesses and cowls which serve as finger-gripping handles. The interior of the cylinder body is buttressed by Y-shaped reinforcement members whose radially extending arms are joined to the inner sidewalls by a weld.

  • Patent number: 6241388
Abstract: A device for holding toiletries and the like which comprises a container and means for suspending this assembly from an overhead support or from a wall. The device may be fabricated from any suitably stiff substance or from a flexible material as, for example, a pliant plastic which folds into a compact size and which, if desired, can be placed into a storage case for traveling purposes. When a flexible material is used, this device also includes within its sidewalls, a retractable stiffening means so as to impart, to the opened container, the support needed to ensure structural integrity. The device is waterproof and mildew-proof.

  • Patent number: 6124672
Abstract: An electroluminescent night light which provides a single color or multi-colored display. The display is achieved by depositing, onto a conductive layer by screen printing pair of elongated electrical pins, a single film or one or more discrete phosphor characters of the same or different color. Also included is a novel construction feature, specifically, a `wrap around` means for securely joining the electroluminescent lamp to the plug assembly.

  • Patent number: 6106184
Abstract: A bolted connector for joining a pair of metal piece parts that exhibits improved stiffness is made by forming a burred aperture on one of the metal piece parts. The piece parts are configured to include bolt apertures with slightly different diameters, the piece part included the burred region comprising the lesser diameter. When the piece parts are joined, the burred region is forced into the second aperture. Once the pieces are joined, a threaded bolt is inserted through the first and second pieces and a nut is threaded onto the bolt shank to contact the underside of the second metal piece part. The burr functions as a physical "stop" within the second aperture and prevents relative motion between the piece parts.

  • Patent number: 6073743
Abstract: A case flow system consisting essentially of a roller bed arrangement equipped with a plurality of independent wheels disposed in a spaced-apart relationship along a set of steel axles joined to a pair of side rails. A plurality of inverted generally U-shaped support members extends from the rear to the front of each bed and is located adjacent to the wheels. A set of cross beams are disposed underneath and in contact with the support members so that the load on the bed may be transferred from the support members to the side rails while simultaneously reducing the load on the axles. The improvement in weight distribution is such that bearingless, inexpensive wheels may be used.

  • Patent number: 6068163
Abstract: A portable dispensing apparatus in which a fuel containing chamber is pressurized by a hand operated air pump. The fuel is dispensed by a pickup tube whose receiving end is within the chamber where it is joined to a flexible hose equipped with a bellows; the opposite end being connected to a valved handle outside the chamber and includes a nozzle for dispensing the fuel. An actuation lever pivotally mounted to the handle allows the operator to control the flow rate and velocity of emitted fuel so that even incremental amounts can be dispensed without difficulty. The flexible hose can be stored in a skirt on the handle.

  • Patent number: 6041466
Abstract: A holder for removably engaging a scouring pad (such as stainless steel) includes a handle and an apertured end portion. A scouring pad is inserted through the bottom of the apertured end portion and held in place by a top flanged surface formed in the apertured end portion. Although held securely, the pad may be easily removed after use. A plurality of stiffening ribs may be included around the inner periphery of the end portion's encasing sidewall to increase its rigidity. Retaining wedges may also be disposed around the bottom perimeter of the apertured end portion to urge the scouring pad upwards and maintain its engagement with the top flange portion. A scraper end may be attached to the top flanged end of the apertured end portion, if desired.

  • Patent number: 6019679
Abstract: A fire and smoke damper includes a flat-coil spring actuator to rotate the blades included within the damper between the "normally open" position to the "closed" position when a fire or smoke condition occurs. The damper may include one or more blades, using a linkage connector to ensure simultaneous operation of each blade. The flat-coil spring is held under tension by an actuator (such as a fusible link) to maintain the blades in the "normally open" position. Once the spring is released, a pivot arrangement coupled between the spring and the blade(s) functions to quickly rotate the blade(s) into the closed position, thereby blocking the passage of smoke or fire. The blades may include blade seals to ensure a tight seal.
