  • Patent number: 8325391
Abstract: A rear side surface of a frame of an image-forming apparatus has throttle portions protruding toward the inside of the frame. By aligning the screw holes in the throttle portions and the through-holes in a guide rail and then screwing screws into these holes, the guide rail is fixed to the rear side surface with a predetermined distance therebetween. This restricts deformation of the guide rail due to a load applied by opening and closing the document holding plate.

  • Patent number: 8322348
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for treatment, such as skin rejuvenation treatment, using non-uniform laser radiation. An output beam from a laser source is coupled into an optical system that modifies the beam to provide a large-diameter beam having a non-uniform energy profile, comprised of a plurality of high-intensity zones surrounded by lower-intensity zones within the treatment beam. A large area of tissue, preferably 7-10 mm in diameter, can be treated simultaneously, while minimizing the risk of burning or other damage to the skin.

  • Patent number: 8319749
Abstract: An image pickup apparatus capable of easily improving the detection accuracy of a touching or proximity object is provided. An offset noise (a reset image R) is obtained by an image pickup process in a state (a reset state) in which an image pickup device is initialized. Moreover, a fingertip extraction process is performed in consideration of the offset noise on the basis of a picked-up image (a shadow image A or a display light-using image B) which is obtained by picking up an image of a proximity object to obtain object information about the proximity object. While an offset noise in the apparatus is easily reduced, object information about the proximity object can be obtained.
