  • Patent number: 7093075
Abstract: A system and method for reducing latency in memory systems is provided. A copy way is established in a set of a set associative cache, which is physically closer to a requesting entity than other memory positions. Likely to be accessed data is copied to the copy way for subsequent access. In this way, subsequent accesses of the most likely data have their access time reduced due to the physical proximity of the data being close to the requesting entity. Methods herein further provide ranking and rearranging blocks in the cache based on coupled local and global least recently used (LRU) algorithms to reduce latency time.

  • Patent number: 7065459
Abstract: A method of determining the frequency of a plurality of resonant devices (for example three SAW devices) includes determining optimal interrogation frequencies for each of the devices, the optimal interrogation frequencies having maximum power spectral densities, accumulating a plurality of responses for each sensor, performing discrete Fourier transforms on the sampling results to estimate the three resonant frequencies, and averaging the results of the Fourier transforms to provide an indication of resonant frequencies. The averaging step may include the calculation of a standard deviation and the rejection of any results which fall more than a pre-determined multiple of the standard deviation from the average frequency result. The frequency determined by the method may be employed to calculate the pressure and temperature of the sensor devices. The sensor devices may be located in a vehicle tire.

  • Patent number: 7034661
Abstract: A monitoring system, particularly suitable for monitoring conditions (e.g. pressure or temperature) of a vehicle tire comprises a passive sensor (102, 104), an antenna (106) associated with said passive sensor, and switching means (108) for controlling the connection between the passive sensor and the antenna such that, in a first state of said switching means, said antenna is prevented from transmitting a signal generated by the passive sensor, and, in a second state of said switching means, said antenna is permitted to transmit a signal generated by the passive sensor. The switching means is operated remotely by means of a control signal. The control signal may be derived from the sum or difference of RF signals (F1 and F2) applied to a filter (112) In alternative embodiments the control signal is the modulating frequency of an AM or FM modulated radio signal or a radio signal carrying a digital code.

  • Patent number: 7006931
Abstract: A system and method for analyzing a circuit with transmission lines includes determining which sources influence each of a plurality of transmission lines, based on coupling factors. Transmission line parameters are computed based on the sources, which influence each transmission line. A transient response or frequency response is analyzed for each transmission line by segmenting each line to perform an analysis on that line. The step of analyzing is repeated using waveforms determined in a previous iteration until convergence to a resultant waveform has occurred.
