Abstract: A noise level of an input signal is determined by a noise calculation module. based on the noise level, a boundary setting module sets a reduced constellation boundary interval. This reduced constellation boundary interval is employed by an equalizer to perform adaptive equalization of the input signal.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to methods and devices for displaying information in a handheld device, comprising displaying information in a dynamically sizable cell in the display of the handheld device, wherein the cell comprises a portion of the display and the size of the cell is adjusted in response to the amount of information it contains. Embodiments of the present invention are enabled to display the information in a plurality of dynamically sizable cells which display different categories of information. Embodiments are also enabled to adjust cell size in response to the size of the other cells in the display.
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed involving preamble sequences. For instance, an apparatus includes a module to provide a preamble sequence having multiple values, where each of the values corresponds to an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) subcarrier. These multiple values may include multiple blocks of values based on a differentially encoded and scrambled row of a Hadamard matrix. The apparatus may further include a modulation module to produce an OFDM modulated signal from the preamble sequence. Further, techniques for the detection of such preambles are disclosed.

Abstract: A method of adjusting a power amplifier may include producing a power measure of an output signal of the power amplifier and estimating an estimated transmission error of the output signal from the power measure. The estimated transmission error may be compared with a maximum error that is associated with a data rate of the output signal. A bias voltage that is input to the power amplifier may be decreased if the comparing determines that the estimated transmission error is less than the maximum error.
Abstract: Systems and methods of managing workloads provide for detecting a workload for a system having a first processor core with a first performance indicator and a second processor core with a second performance indicator. The workload is scheduled based on the first and second performance indicator settings. In one embodiment, a performance feasibility index is calculated for each core based on the core's frequency setting and utilization and the workload is assigned to the core associated with the highest index.
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide an instruction that computes the horizontal and vertical values (H,V) based upon the predefined equations. Based upon the horizontal and vertical values (H,V) and the current sign bit being processed at [m,n], the output context and decision pair (CX,D) is determined placed into a destination register.
Abstract: An audio data stream from a processing system may be buffered to allow low power states in the processing system during audio playback. An audio buffer may be provided external to the processing system and between the processing system and an audio codec. The audio buffer may also shift to an alternate audio data interface mode when the processing system is in the low power state. Of course, many alternatives, variations, and modifications are possible without departing from this embodiment.
