Abstract: The apparatus provides a locking mechanism for an armrest of an automobile or similar motor vehicle to a structural pin or post. The mechanism includes a cap with a lateral slit into which a button and spring are assembled. The spring outwardly biases the button which is limited in its outward travel by a detent arrangement which maintains the outer portion of the button flush with the cap. In this arrangement; the spring further engages a circumferential slot on the structural pin or post thereby locking the armrest to the structural pin or post. However, in order to remove the armrest from the structural pin or post, the user pushes the button inwardly, thereby compressing the spring and moving the spring out of the circumferential notch thereby unlocking the armrest from the structural pin or post and allowing the free removal thereof.

Abstract: A method of acoustically imaging a portion of the morphology of a subject which includes the steps of utilizing a burst of pulses for which reflections are recorded prior to analyzing and plotting the data generated thereby.
Abstract: The device is an apparatus for infrared spectroscopy. A succession of collimated light beams throughout the middle and near infrared spectrum are impinged against a sample or samples and the diffuse component of the reflected light is measured throughout the spectrum. This diffuse component is analyzed by a neural network to determine such characteristics as content of the sample.
Abstract: The intaglio printing machine comprises a main structure (6), a plate cylinder (4), an impression cylinder (3), a wiping device (10) and an inking system consisting of a collector inking cylinder (5), of at least four color-selector cylinders (7a to 7d), and of an inking device (8a to 8d) associated with each color-selector cylinder (7a to 7d) and mounted in a mobile inking carriage (9). The ratio between the diameter of the collector inking cylinder (5) and the diameter of the plate cylinder (4) is equal to 2/3. The two extreme color-selector cylinders (7a, 7d) are placed so that they are approximately diametrically opposed with respect to the collector inking cylinder (5).
Abstract: A computer graphics circuit for rendering light-reflected images based on a bump-mapped Phong-shading model implemented fully in hardware, comprises a span processor, a bump-mapping circuit, a reverse-projection circuit, a bump-normal RAM, and Phong-shading circuit. The surface and bump normal of each polygon is defined by horizontal and vertical angles relative to the eye-point axis in device coordinates and to an axis perpendicular to a texture mapping coordinate, respectively. The trigonometric function tables used for rotation and shading computation have an angle-range around either a horizontal or vertical angle. The surface normal of horizontal and vertical angles is rotated by the bump normal and given rotated horizontal and vertical angles to the shading circuit. The shading circuit further comprises and accumulator for multiple light-sources and spot-lighting, which has no limitation of the number of light-sources.
Abstract: By the control information recording method, control information to control at least one of recording and reproducing operations of record information on an information record medium is recorded onto a guide track of the information record medium. The control information recording method is provided with the steps of: generating a control information timing signal one after another at an interval corresponding to a length of a control information unit equal to an N (N: predetermined integer not less than 2) multiple of a length of a record information unit of the record information; and recording the control information onto the guide track of the information record medium, on the basis of a timing corresponding to the control information timing signal.

Abstract: An endoscope system includes an operation invalidating device which invalidates the operation of a switch or key which is actuated to control the operation of a device connected to an endoscope. The operation invalidating device begins operating automatically after a lapse of a predetermined time from actuation of a power source or after a lapse of a predetermined time from operation of a switch or key.
