  • Patent number: 5899943
Abstract: Paying attention to the mechanical play between the first and second support members for supporting opposite end portions of a knee axis and a brake block located between the support members, the present invention chiefly aims at removing the play in the direction of an axis of the knee axis in an effective and a reliable manner. In order to achieve this object, according to the present invention, a plurality of spacer members are inserted between each support member and the brake block such that the spacer members may slide on the mutual abutment surface. Each spacer member is of a ring type. The spacer members are fitted to and supported by the knee axis in a state that the spacer members are overlaid one upon another in the axial direction of the knee axis. In order to enhance the smooth sliding on the abutment surface, the spacer members are preferably made of resin material.

  • Patent number: 5899203
Abstract: An interactive respiratory regulator comprising a recording device recording the respiratory pattern of a user and issuing a corresponding respiratory signal, an instruction signal generator for the generation of an instruction signal that can be perceived by the user in order to influence his respiratory behavior, a control device controlling the instruction signal generator, a processing device which determines by means of a parameter of the respiratory signal received, whether the recorded respiratory pattern during a predetermined time span meets a pre-adjustable standard for this parameter, and which at a certain error percentage sends a starting signal to the control device. The interactive respiratory regulator is characterized in that the processing device processes as parameter the ratio between the in- and exhalation time in a respiratory cycle.

  • Patent number: 5895177
Abstract: A machine tool includes a spindle having a cutting tool for cutting a workpiece. For fault detection, a control unit of the machine tool detects a value representing a torque applied on the spindle while the spindle is stopped in a state the cutting tool is engaged with the workpiece. The control unit further compares the detected value (representing a torque) with a predetermined threshold thereby to determine that a fault has occurs. Since the detection of the value representing a torque is performed while the spindle is stopped, the detection is free from the effects of acceleration or deceleration of the spindle.

  • Patent number: 5895198
Abstract: A coil unloading rig is adapted to handle, tilt and position a coil of sheet metal. An arcuate rail has opposed upper and lower open ends and an intermediate arcuate section. A trolley rotatably suspends the rail from a ceiling crane. A ring is disposed in a plane normal to the plane of the rail. A top brace is fixed to the upper rail end and the ring and a lower brace is fixed to the lower rail end and the ring. A pair of divergent posts are on each side of the lower brace, each post having post brackets for supporting and clamping the coil in a vertical position. A vertically movable brace bracket is movably mounted on the top brace for supporting and clamping the coil supported by the post brackets whereby the coil unloading rig is adapted to support and clamp a coil in a vertical position and tilt the coil by rotating the rail by the trolley to a horizontal position.

  • Patent number: 5890943
Abstract: constructional building set comprising gear boxes which are provided with guide grooves and shaft passages. The guide grooves and the shaft passages are constructed such that transmission elements can be inserted into the guide grooves from the outer side of the gear box in such a manner that the transmission elements are positioned in alignment with the shaft passages in the gear boxes. When the gear box additionally comprises means for releasable geometrical retention of the transmission elements in their position in alignment with the shaft passages after insertion of the transmission elements into the gear box, it is ensured that the shafts can be pulled out of the assembled gear structure without the transmission elements dropping out of the gear structure. This simplifies the mounting operation and makes it easier to use the gear structure as an assembled unit that can be used for different applications.

  • Patent number: 5891016
Abstract: An exciting light filter through which exciting light which is adapted to radiate fluorescence from a living tissue is transmitted, is provided in an illumination light path defined between a light source which emits the illumination light and an object to be observed, in a fluorescence endoscope. A fluorescence filter which permits fluorescence which is radiated from the living tissue due to the illumination by the exciting light and whose wavelength is longer than that of the exciting light to pass therethrough but does not permit the exciting light to pass through the fluorescence filter, is provided in an observation light path defined between the object and a viewing portion in which an image of the object is viewed. There is a difference of 20 nm to 40 nm between the longest wavelength of the wavelength band of which more than 10% are transmitted through the exciting light filter and the shortest wavelength of the wavelength band of which more than 10% are transmitted through the fluorescence filter.

  • Patent number: 5892611
Abstract: A laser drawing apparatus is provided that splits a laser light into a plurality of drawing beams aligned in a common plane. The aligned drawing beams are reflected and deflected through a deflecting mirror to scan a drawing surface. The beams reflected off the mirror are converged through a scanning optical system onto the drawing surface in such a manner that the height of the drawing beams on the drawing surface is in proportion to the deflection angle and a strict relationship exists between the various incident and reflecting angles as well as the focal length of the scanning optical system and pitch of the drawing beams.

  • Patent number: 5888237
Abstract: An artificial limb provides for positional relation between a first pin for rotatably connecting one end of an air cylinder device to a lower member and a second pin for rotatably connecting the other end of the air cylinder device to an upper member. The attaching position of the second pin is set to satisfy certain predetermined conditions when an artificial limb is in a completely extended state. The position of an air cylinder device (particularly, the attaching position of the second pin) is changed in conformity with a walking speed which is variable in phase such as normal walking, quick walking, and running with small steps. The artificial limb further comprises a pin position change capable of changing the position of a second pin rotatably connected to an upper member in conformity with variation of walking speed.

  • Patent number: 5888915
Abstract: The present invention is directed towards paper machine clothings comprised of interconnected bicomponent fibers. In one embodiment of the invention, the paper machine clothing is comprised entirely of bicomponent fibers in both the machine and cross machine direction. Advantage is taken of the unique bicomponent fiber structure, which permits selection of different materials for the sheath and core components. For instance, the sheath material may have a melting point lower than the melting point of the core material. Accordingly, a fused, bonded structure of bicomponent fibers can be formed where the sheath component has a melting point lower than the core component. By heating a fabric constructed of bicomponent fibers to a temperature greater than the melting point of the sheath component and lower than the melting point of the core component, with subsequent cooling of the fabric to below melt temperature of the sheath component, a fused, bonded structure will result.
