  • Patent number: 5033491
Abstract: A double walled, tubular vessel is configured with a central cavity into which a paint roller can be placed for washing while the roller cover is mounted on a handle frame. A hose fitting is provided to enable connection to be made to a kitchen or bathroom faucet or spigot, or to a pump to provide pressurized water or solvent to the double walled shell manifold from which the liquid sprays through openings in the inner wall into the cavity, impinging on the roller tangentially. The nap of the roller cover is penetrated by the liquid and the roller is caused to spin on its handle resulting in the paint and liquid wash being discharged centrifugally against the wall of the cavity, from which it drains by gravity without mess or splatter into a collecting vessel.

  • Patent number: 4898228
Abstract: Continuously cast steel billet is sectioned to length while the core of the casting is molten by being pinched-off to seal the ends of the casting sections and contain molten core metal, effecting thereby energy conservation and economic savings in the production of steel products. The inventive method and means avoids tensilely stressing the casting lessening the risk that the skin of the casting will be caused to rupture from being stretched and that molten metal from the core of the casting will spill to ruin the casting and endanger personnel and equipment.

  • Patent number: 4815520
Abstract: Continuous casting of metal is optimumly practiced by pouring a casting configured with a trapezoidal cross-section, which issues from the bottom of a mold curvilinearly directed to horizontal extension where it is passed between vertically aligned squeeze rolls which compressively deform and narrow the cross-sectional configuration from trapezoidal to rectilinear and thereby straighten and true the casting for being pinched-off and sectioned to length while the core of the casting is molten. The inventive method and means avoids tensilely stressing the casting, lessening the risk that the skin of the casting will rupture from being stretched and that molten metal from the core of the casting will spill endangering personnel and equipment and ruining the casting.

  • Patent number: 4773999
Abstract: Filtering apparatus comprising two rolls of wound tissue axially stacked with a discharge gallery separating them for receiving flow entering from the outboard ends of the stack is provided with an improvement for sealing the discharge gallery from short circuited flow entering it by placing tissue windings in overlapping arrangement with the periphery of the rolls to cover at least partially circumferential faces of the rolls and isolate the discharge gallery effectively without the use of sealing material dissimilar from the filtering medium.

  • Patent number: 4598178
Abstract: Critical damping of a dynamic loudspeaker is achieved by placing a supplemental, short circuited coil of similar configuration and mounting alignment to that of the drive coil in rearward adjacency thereto for being biased into the flux gap during extreme forward excursion of the speaker cone and drive coil. External circuit elements connected to the supplemental coil provide desired impedance for damping particular resonant frequencies.High ambient-temperature performance capability for functioning of a speaker in a public address system or to sound an alarm during a fire is provided by use of an aluminum cone diaphragm and a plastomer coated glass cloth surround.
