Abstract: A toilet flushing mechanism is described which embodies water conserving dual modes of operation providing either a full tank volume water flush or a partial flush. Selective manipulation of the toilet tank handle provides different dwell times for an air valve to remain open and causes alteration in the elapsed time required for a buoyant tank drain valve to seat so that the volume of water which drains from the tank during each cycle is altered.
Abstract: A portable, automatic liquid level monitoring and recording instrument is disclosed for use in measuring the capacity of soils to absorb water. A self-contained power source, timer and vertically biasable recording probe are housed as a cylindrical package disposed for placement in a shallow bore hold and connected to a reserve water supply. The probe, carrying an ink filled stylus, scribes a graph lining the inside of the cylinder during excursions initiated by timer actuation, the direction of probe traverse being reversed by completion of a circuit when the probe contacts water. Water is replenished to the borehole to datum level automatically after completion of the downward traverse of the probe.

Abstract: A filter is disclosed for removing contaminants from recirculating lubricant by causing the lubricant to flow interstitially between layers of wound fibrous tissue which are retained and sealed against channeling of lubricant flow past the filter medium by the interposition thereamong of an annular baffle, the seal being enhanced by imposition of hydraulic force component radially of the filter medium.
