Abstract: A wooden member support retrofit system includes a wooden member support having a support base and a wooden member supported by the wooden member. The system also includes a shim disposed in a space formed between the base and the wooden member due to relative movement of the base and the wooden member over time. A process of retrofitting a wooden member support system includes measuring a space formed between a base of a wooden member support and a wooden member due to relative movement of the base and the wooden member over time. The system includes selecting a shim and placing the shim in the space formed between the base and the wooden member.
Abstract: A baseball bat has a composite bat body including a grip, a handle and a barrel extending from the handle. The baseball bat also includes a generally tubular, resilient sleeve having greater impact absorption and resistance characteristics than the composite bat body. The sleeve is disposed adjacent to an exterior of the barrel of the bat body. The baseball bat further includes a mechanism for interconnecting the bat body and sleeve in a coaxial relation such that a portion of the bat body overlaps the sleeve.
Abstract: An improved coffee brewer and brewing method are provided for producing brewed coffee with improved flavor. The coffee brewer includes a brew basket having jet ports connected to a source of heated water and positioned to deliver hot water streams into the brew basket at a location beneath the level of coffee grounds contained therein. These hot water streams turbulently agitate and stir the coffee grounds to produce a substantially fluidized bed of water-borne coffee grounds for improved flavor extraction and enhanced aroma. This fluidized bed is directed against one or more mesh filter elements forming a wall portion of the brew basket for outward passage of the thus-brewed coffee which is then directed into an underlying carafe or the like. In one preferred form, a portion of the brew basket incorporates an illuminated window to permit visual observation of the fluidized bed therein.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a hollow metal ball bat includes forming a shell into a tubular shape using a pilger mill. The wall thickness of the tube shell is reduced by drawing the tube shell with the draw bench. A handle section and a taper section are created using the pilger mill. The handle is drawn through a draw bench, and the handle and taper sections are swaged.
Abstract: A one-piece manifold for use in a sprinkler valve assembly includes an intake pipe having a water inlet and a plurality of ports adapted for fluid connection to inlets of a plurality of respective sprinkler valve assemblies. An outlet is attached to the intake, such as by cross-beams, and includes a plurality of elbow segments which are non-fluidly connected to one another. Each elbow segment defines an intake port adapted to be fluidly connected to an outlet of the respective valve assemblies. An exhaust port is adapted to be fluidly connected to a sprinkler or irrigation line. Preferably, the manifolds are connectable to one another in series to accommodate any number of sprinkler lines.
Abstract: A feedthrough filter capacitor assembly includes a capacitor having first and second sets of conductive electrode plates embedded within a dielectric body and mounted to the hermetic terminal of an implantable medical device. A laminar delamination gap is provided between the capacitor sealing materials and the hermetic terminal assembly to facilitate helium leak detection. At least one feedthrough terminal pin extends through the capacitor in conductive relation with the first set of electrode plates, and an outer ferrule is mounted about the capacitor in conductive relation with the second set of electrode plates. The mounting washer is spaced against the hermetic seal and is adhesively connected to the feedthrough capacitor. The mounting washer forms a laminar flow delamination through which helium molecules can flow during a helium leak detection test. Provision is made for a pre-connection to the gold braze so that the capacitor inside diameter termination is not electrically isolated from the lead wire.
Abstract: A multi-part form includes a printable face ply that is die cut to create a detachable wristband, labels and/or cards and is particularly useful in a hospital-patient environment. The face ply includes a first major surface and a second major surface. A pressure sensitive adhesive is located on at least a portion of one of the major surfaces. The multi-part form includes a first portion, second portion and intermediate portion. The multi-part form further includes a liner ply with first and second major surfaces where a release coating is located on at least a portion of one of major surfaces of the liner ply. The liner ply is adhered to the pressure sensitive adhesive on the face ply.
Abstract: A plurality of identification bracelets removably attached to one another, each bracelet having a first end which includes a cover tab and a second end defining a closure tab having an adhesive portion. The cover tab of a second bracelet removably overlies the adhesive portion of a closure tab of an adjacent first identification bracelet. Upon separating the first and second bracelets, the adhesive portion of the first bracelet is exposed and the cover tab remains with the second bracelet as it is removed. The adhesive portion of the closure tab of the first bracelet, is adhered to a surface of the identification bracelet as it is moved from an open position to a closed position encircling an object to be identified. The bracelets may be connected end-to-end to form an elongated strip or along elongated side edges to form a sheet of identification bracelets.
Abstract: An improved identification band such as a wristband or the like is provided of the type including a radio frequency identification (RFID) circuit for communicating wearer information with a remote reader. A pair of electronic coupling elements such as capacitor plates are formed at opposite head and tail ends of the identification band, and are adapted for adhesive securement in mutually coupled relation to enable the RFID circuit with a predetermined circuit resonance frequency fortuned communication with the remote reader. Upon attempted separation of the band head and tails ends, for removal of the identification band from the wearer, one or both of the coupling elements is physically distorted to alter the circuit resonance frequency, thereby detuning the circuit and preventing subsequent communication with the remote reader.
Abstract: A lamp including a holder having a base with a plurality of vertical walls extending upwardly therefrom. A window is formed in at least one of the walls. A panel, including an image, is removably disposed adjacent to the window. The panel is illuminated to highlight the image and create a desired effect.
Abstract: A spur system including a body having arms adapted to extend on either side of a heel of a footwear, such as a boot. A nib is pivotally coupled to the body, and selectively moveable between an activated and an unactivated position.
Abstract: An electro-magnetic interference filter terminal assembly for active implantable medical devices includes a structural pad in the form of a substrate or attached wire bond pad, for convenient attachment of wires from the circuitry inside the implantable medical device to the capacitor structure via thermal or ultrasonic bonding, soldering or the like while shielding the capacitor from forces applied to the assembly during attachment of the wires.
