  • Patent number: 4684289
Abstract: A truck having a road oil spreader is equipped with an apparatus for simultaneous application of oil and paving fabric to the road surface. The apparatus includes an assembly for engaging a roll of paving fabric comprising adjustable cone arms mounted on a collapsible boom that rotatably hold the core section of the fabric roll. The fabric is drawn over an idler shaft and beneath a series of longitudinally aligned brushes. The shaft and brushes are connected to each opposing end of the oil spreader by a removable outwardly extending side framework. The framework includes joint and connection means that permit longitudinal and angular adjustment of the idler shaft and brushes. As oil is sprayed over the road surface, the fabric unrolls and becomes embedded in the oil by action of the brushes pushing the fabric into the oil-coated surface.

  • Patent number: 4675949
Abstract: A clamp for a hose comprising a drum which is confined for rotation within a clip. The axis of rotation of the drum is aligned with the longitudinal axis of the hose. Bands, which are connected to the clip and encircle the hose, are attached to the drum. A bolt or screw head axially accessible at an end of the drum is rotated by a tool to wind the bands onto the drum and tighten them against the hose. The clip includes latch members that engage gears on the drum to maintain tension on the bands and prevent unwanted backwinding.

  • Patent number: 4629156
Abstract: A combination valve for relieving excess pressure while also stopping downstream gas flow. A pull-type valve core is mounted within the gas flow passage of a valve body. It includes an actuating plunger operatively connected to a poppet that overlies the valve core and sealingly reciprocates against an upper portion of the valve body. The poppet includes a head portion with a central orifice. The poppet seats against an inner surface of a vented housing which encloses the poppet, valve core and valve body. A spring biases the poppet to its seated position allowing normal gas flow through the central orifice and valve core. Excessive gas pressure will overcome the spring force and allow the excess to vent out the housing. Unseating of the poppet also allows the actuating plunger to close the valve core and stop gas flow to downstream equipment.

  • Patent number: 4582448
Abstract: An assembly for allowing quick removal of a wheel from a vehicle is provided. The original wheel axle is replaced with an elongated axle which is adapted to extend through a block clamped to the vehicle frame. The block includes a spring-biased plunger which interfits with an annular groove at the end of the axle to lock the wheel and axle in place. The plunger is withdrawn from the groove to release the axle and allow one to readily remove the wheel.Alternately, an indented shaft fits within the groove to lock the axle. Upon rotation of the shaft to align the indentation over the groove, the axle may be released and withdrawn from the block.
