Abstract: Surfaced-enhanced, analytical procedures wherein a surfaced article includes a substrate surface, metal islands, a spacing/coupling agent layer, and binding partner molecules which bond with work piece molecules to be detected. A population of spaced apart metal islands are formed on the substrate and have at least some interconnections formed between them. A continuous layer coats the islands and all surfaces between the islands. The continuous layer includes a coupling agent which immobilizes first binding partner molecules. The first partner molecules bond to the coupling agent and the second binding partner molecules bind to the first binding partner molecules to allow detection of presence or concentration of the work piece binding partner molecules.

Abstract: A time division multiplexing (TDM) digital audio signal processing and communication system is disclosed. The preferred embodiment applies time division multiplexing to a digital audio data transfer environment by providing a TDM patch bay bus structure to which digital audio devices can be plugged into and digital audio data transfer connections made. In the preferred embodiment, the patch bay bus structure includes the bus connection structure, a bus controller and a plurality of digital audio processing devices which each communicate with the bus structure which uses three (3) separate buses: A data bus, control bus and an address bus. Each processing device not only has its own unique address, but also one or more group addresses. Thus, the system allows communication to single recipient devices or multiple recipient devices in one time slice of the TDM signal.
Abstract: A portable solar oven which innovatively combines improved elements to achieve and maintain a high internal temperature. In the shown embodiment, a box-shaped insulated body shell includes a pair of side walls, a front wall, a back wall, and a base. The front wall has an insulated door made integral therewith. The inner portion of the side walls and door have polished metal panels affixed thereto to reflect solar radiation into the interior of the oven. The back wall and base have a heat element disposed thereon for collecting direct and reflected solar radiation, thereby maintaining a high constant temperature in the interior of the oven. A transparent top wall of dual pane tempered glass is permanently affixed to the topmost portion of the body shell. A reflective cover is rotatably affixed to either side of the body shell using a pair of toothed washers. The reflective cover reflects additional solar radiation into the inner portion of the oven.

Abstract: A controller mounting structure for a controller which can be removed from a front panel of the structure when the structure is not being used. The panel has a mounting port for the controller, and a first connecting terminal means arranged inside of the mounting port. A second connecting terminal means which connects with the first connecting terminal means is arranged within the controller. The mounting port has a terminal protecting element which protects the first connecting terminal means when the controller is removed. The terminal protecting element is forced toward the controller by an urging member. When the controller is being mounted on the mounting port, the terminal protecting element pushes the controller and the terminal protecting element acts as a damper for the shock of mounting operation.
Abstract: Filtering apparatus provided for separating contaminants from a fluid flow includes a hollow housing having an inlet and an outlet therein adapted to permit the flow of fluid therethrough, and a hollow, generally concave shaped, porous, self-supporting filtering membrane having an opening into the interior thereof at its base end. The filter membrane is secured in the housing intermediate the inlet and outlet, so that the fluid flow enters the interior portion of the filtering membrane through the opening at its base end and exits therefrom through the porous filtering membrane to the outlet.

Abstract: A lens driving device having a lens mount integrated with a lens as a unit, a drive rope with convex stripes on its surface, pulleys disposed on the lens mount and having gear tooth channels which engage the convex stripes formed on the drive rope, lens drive gears disposed on the lens mount and having a drive linkage to the pulleys respectively, and a lens guide member with a rack portion which engages with the lens drive gears. The pulleys rotate with the movement of the drive rope and the drive gears rotate interlocking with the rotation of the pulleys so as to move the lens mount along the lens guide member. In case of using a zoom lens with a zoom ring, the lens driving device has gear tooth channel formed on the zoom ring which engages with the convex stripes formed on the drive rope so as to rotate the zoom ring in accordance with the movement of the drive rope.
Abstract: A color image processing apparatus for converting original image data in the input system into required copy image data based on a lookup table. The apparatus has a memory for storing corrective functions used for the formation of the lookup table, a command generator for generating a command signal for starting the formation of the lookup table and a table forming system for calling the corrective functions from the memory each time the command signal is generated from the command generator and for forming the lookup table based on the corrective functions. For faithful reproduction of the color image of an original image on a copy image, white points and the achromatic axes of the original image conform with those of the copy image and, at the same time, the ranges of color reproduction of the original image conform with the copy image.
