Abstract: A process for producing and installing a three-dimensional ornamental jewelry dental appliance onto a target tooth selected by the patient without employing a crown is disclosed, as is the structure of the ornamental appliance itself. The dental appliance is made by making an impression of the target tooth, creating a mold from that impression and casting a noble metal appliance from a lost wax mold having a rear wall that conforms exactly to the surface of the target tooth. Registration of the ornamental appliance with a target area of the target tooth is assured by use of an indexing tab integrally molded with the ornamental appliance. The rear surface of the dental appliance and surface of the tooth are etched to improve bonding. A dentist applies a cement to the rear surface of the ornamental appliance and a catalyst to the tooth, then presses the dental appliance against the tooth and removes the indexing tab.

Abstract: A stand for supporting and displaying cut trees includes a closed hexagonal base having three upwardly and inwardly projecting legs that converge in about the center of the hexagonal base and that support a V-shaped cradle having upper and lower cradle arms that contact the tree trunk on two sides at both an upper location and at a lower location. A chain latching mechanism tightly fastens a chain about the circumference of the tree at a location between the upper and lower cradle arms.
Abstract: A shingle gauge includes a circular collar that is adjustable secured to the hammerhead of a conventional hammer and includes a pair of rearwardly projecting side rails, which are connected by a stud having a cylindrically headed nuts fastened outside the side rails. The distance between the cylindrically headed nuts and a front edge of the shingle gauge is used to measure the desired distance between adjacent rows of shingles fastened to a roof.
Abstract: A folding chair/table includes a rigid seat attached to an X-frame with four legs that fold and then slide under the seat and parallel to it for storage and a rigid backrest connected to a separate backrest frame pivotally attached to the seat, which is stopped from over rotation by the rearwardly upwardly sloping rear legs. The backrest and backrest frame pivot forwardly and downwardly to a position in contact with the front of the seat to form a table.
Abstract: A portable table consists of four flat planar pieces that can be assembled and disassembled without fasteners, but which may include optional fasteners. The portable table consists of a pair of pedestals, each having a vertical slot from a top edge to a certain depth; a central brace member lying in a plane perpendicular to the width of the pedestals and having angled slots at about 80 degrees from the horizontal that mate with the slots in the pedestals so that the two pedestals are slightly inward leaning from their bottoms to their tops. The top edges of the pedestals and the central brace member lie in a single plane. A table top includes channel members in a bottom surface that mirror the top edges of the pedestals and the central brace member and mate therewith to provide a simple and sturdy portable table that is easily stored.
Abstract: A tubular bird feeder includes a self-contained seed scoop comprising a depending portion of a top cap, which includes a rim for seating about the exterior of the side wall of the tubular body. A bent wire hanger is inserted into a pair of opposed apertures near the top of the bird feeder and a channel in one side wall of the scoop portion and the cut-away portion of the scoop itself allow clearance of the hook portions of the hanger. A bottom cap closes the bottom of the tubular bird feeder. A number of apertures in the side wall of the tubular body of the bird feeder allow birds access to the seed and a number of dowels inserted through apertures lying across a diameter of a section of the tubular body of the bird feeder provide perches for the feeding birds.
Abstract: A portable barbecue grill assembly can be readily attached to the trailer receiver hitch of a motor vehicle and cantilevered therefrom to allow the assembly to be taken freely anywhere. The apparatus includes a principal support arm projecting horizontally outwardly from the rear of the vehicle and an upturned portion, to which an ash saucer is attached, and bolts therethrough anchor a kettle-type barbecue grill having a removable dome-shaped cover. Two food preparation and serving tables are attached to table supporting arms connected to the principal supporting arm below the ash saucer. The table tops, table supporting arms, and ash saucer are readily attachable and detachable by means of snap fastener pins.
Abstract: A portable shade umbrella comprises a weighted base having a supporting pole secured in it, with the supporting pole having a curved upper section with a downwardly depending stud attached to the outer end of the curved section for supporting a rib assembly and a canopy, each of which includes central apertures penetrated by the stud and secured to the stud with a nut, which stretches the flexible canopy into a traditional umbrella shape. The length of the supporting pole is adjustable. The canopy includes a plurality of insertion pockets about its perimeter for receiving and retaining the outer ends of the curved ribs.
Abstract: A catheter intended to be implanted in the epidural space of a patient for relief of pain, either temporarily or permanently, includes four circumferential ring electrodes connected to terminals by fine wires embedded in the side wall of the catheter for attachment to a conventional electric pulse generator and a hollow elongated body having a lumen therethrough with an injection portal at the proximal end and an aperture at the distal end for continuously administering a pain-relieving agent in a liquid form. The agent may be a narcotic or anesthesia. In the permanently implantable embodiment, the catheter includes an implantable pulse generator and an implantable drug reservoir, both of which can be repeatedly programmed while implanted. Methods for treating pain using the catheter include electrical stimulation, the use of narcotics, or anesthesia, which can be administered in any order, or simultaneously as empirically determined to provide the best pain relief for each patient.
Abstract: An electrically heated cover for wiper blade assemblies includes a cover body having front, rear, right-hand and left-hand end walls and a top wall having a longitudinal access opening for allowing ready connection of the wiper blade assembly to a wiper arm. Electrical resistance heating elements are attached to the inner surface of the cover body and are electrically connected to the vehicle electrical system to provide heat that prevents formation of ice on the wiper blade assembly, the wiper blades and the windshield during severely cold snowy weather. The cover is held in place by a plurality of thumb or set screws through the cover that bear against the wiper blade assembly and are kept from slipping by rubber bushings that contact the wiper blade assembly. The cover can be easily removed and installed and allows completely normal operation of the windshield wipers, and requires no alteration of pre-existing equipment.
Abstract: A quick-release connector for connecting a handle to a mop head or the like comprises a first section for attachment to the handle and a second section for attachment to the mop head. The first section has a plurality of receptacles which mate with a similar plurality of bayonet projections in the second section. At least one of the bayonet projections is resiliently flexible and flexes outward when the first and second sections are pushed together so as to mate with and be securely gripped by an indentation in the first section providing a positive interlock between the sections. Another of the bayonet projections is a rigid, longer bayonet which acts as a guide when the two sections are connected together. The first section also has a polygon-shaped, shallow recess which mates with a similar polygon-shaped protrusion in the second section when the two sections are pushed together to provide resistance to torsional stress.
Abstract: An IV flow monitor is connected to a conventional IV bag via a self-contained puncture tube, and includes a liquid reservoir at the top, which allows the liquid to transfer through a transfer tube and then through a calibrated orifice tube into an orifice chamber, from which the liquid falls through an exit tube connected to a patient or other IV equipment. A manometer tube is connected between the liquid reservoir and the orifice chamber and is aligned with a measurement scale fixed to a backing plate upon which the apparatus is mounted. The pressure drop across the calibrated orifice tube produces a standing column of liquid in the manometer tube and principles of fluid flow allow the rate of flow through the apparatus to be read from the scale. An air trap chamber in an upper portion of the orifice chamber and hydrophobic gas membranes provide safety features that prevent air from being entrained in the liquid flowing through the exit tube to the patient.
