  • Patent number: 5614841
Abstract: The gates (11) of the exclusive OR type having two inputs (A, B) are disposed in tree structure in successive layers of an integrated circuit beginning with an input layer which receives the input signals of the tree. The output of each gate is connected to an input of a gate in the adjacent layer. Each gate includes two cells (11a, 11b) that switch substantially simultaneously in response to two respective complementary signals (A, NA; B, NB) from one of the two inputs and that supply respective output signals that are representative of the complementary functions (XOR, NXOR) of the exclusive OR type. This makes it possible to obtain propagation times that are perfectly equal whatever the active input of the tree or the edge to be propagation times that are perfectly equal whatever the active input of the tree or the edge to be propagated may be.

  • Patent number: 5607900
Abstract: A process for removing contaminants from a surface of a thin film of oxide superconductor deposited on a substrate. The thin film of oxide superconductor is heat-treated in ultra-high vacuum at a temperature which is within a range of -100.degree. C. to +100.degree. C. of the temperature at which oxygen enter into the oxide superconductor. The process is used for removing photo-resist from a surface of thin film of oxide superconductor and for producing a layered structure containing at least one thin film of oxide superconductor such as Y.sub.1 Ba.sub.2 Cu.sub.3 O.sub.7-x having a contaminated surface. On the cleaned surface, another thin film of oxide superconductor or non-superconductor is deposited. • Patent number: 5602860
Abstract: A system uses a parallel switch/thermoelectric cooler circuit between a voltage source and a subsystem having a laser diode in thermal contact with the thermoelectric cooler. The switch opens when the temperature is above a switch temperature such that current is supplied to the thermoelectric cooler in order to cool the laser. The thermoelectric cooler uses energy which would otherwise be wasted in a voltage regulator. The subsystem includes an optical transmitter using the laser to send signals. An alternate arrangement uses a pulse width modulator to provide proportional control for more precise regulation of the laser temperature.

  • Patent number: 5603032
Abstract: This method for administration of an information processing resource by an arbitrary administration system (MAN) allows the management of any arbitrary application (APP) whose symbols table (ST) is contained in the executable program. To achieve this, an agent (AGE) is created in conformity with the standard administrative protocol (SNMP), this agent being parametrizable by means of the configuration file (CF) that the agent contains. Once the agent has been created, the agent (AGE), by way of the symbols table (ST), on the one hand, which provides the correspondence between the name of a variable and its implantation in memory, and by way of a system function call (SC) of the analysis process type, on the other hand, directly accesses the memory zone where the implantation is provided by the symbols table ST, to enable the proper processing operation as a function of queries from the administration system (MAN).

  • Patent number: 5600564
Abstract: A coke oven communication and control system uses high frequency spread spectrum transceivers which are land based (connected to a central controller) and machine based (on a charging car, door machine, pusher, or quench car). Each land based transceiver communicates with a single corresponding machine based transceiver, there being different frequencies for each of the machines. Except for the quenching car transceivers, the other land and machine transceivers all are selectively connected to a pair of antennas which are alternately used to overcome interference. An advantageous communication technique is used to send data between a central controller, known as a battery programmable logic controller (PLC), and the machines. Control strategies are used to minimize malfunctioning of the coke oven battery.
