  • Patent number: 7234095
Abstract: A turbo encoded H-ARQ system and an error detection method are disclosed, and more particularly, a turbo encoded H-ARQ system and an error detection method that lower an undetected error probability and frame error rates by increasing the degree of an equivalent CRC generator polynomial by using a modified trellis termination. It has been made possible to obtain an equivalent CRC generator polynomial having higher degree than the related art CRC generator polynomial by employing a modified trellis termination. This achieved a lower undetected error probability than the related art undetected error probability by using an equivalent CRC generator polynomial having higher degree. This also achieved lower frame error rates, when the same number of overhead bits are used, due to the lower undetected error probability.

  • Patent number: 7222541
Abstract: A device for measuring torsional distortion of a body comprises first and second clip portions each having a central part and two legs depending from the central part, each leg having adjacent the free end thereof a groove or projection for engaging a respective projection or groove (14) provided in the body (16) to mount the clip portion the body rotationally fastened therewith. A bridge interconnects the clip portion. The bridge is less stiff than the clip portions whereby relative rotational displacement of the clip portions caused by torsional distortion of the body will cause proportional deflection of the bridge. Means, for example a SAW device (15), are provided for measuring the deflection of the bridge to provide an indication of the torsional distortion which produces the deflection of the bridge. Also (20) for the interior all of a hollow body.

  • Patent number: 7201963
Abstract: A weldable workpiece prepared by depositing on a surface of the workpiece, an absorber dye possessing strong absorption and a high extinction coefficient. The dye is deposited at a uniform density and thereby has the capacity to convert inbound radiant energy over about 0.1 J per square millimeter into thermal energy via vibronic relaxation and exothermic decomposition. In optical applications, the workpiece forms welds of high photopic and optical transmission. A method for preprocessing the workpiece describes steps for selecting polymers, dyes and vehicles.

  • Patent number: 7202589
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave (SAW) sensor includes a transducer (240 provided on a substrate (23), wherein the transducer (24) is oriented on the substrate (23) so that the direction of acoustic wave propagation is such that the variation of sensor output with temperature, associated with the variation of the substrate third-elastic constants with temperature, substantially equal but opposite to the sum total of the variation of sensor output with temperature associated with the substrate linear temperature coefficient of expansion and with the variations with temperature of the substrate non-zero third order elastic constants, the substrate first-order elastic constants and the substrate density. The effect of temperature variation on sensor output is thereby minimized. This is achieved with a 35-degree arrangement or with reflective gratings inclined at an angle of 3.1 degrees to normal. Additionally, a robust package with a dish is given. Particular applications include the measurement of torque.
