Abstract: A one-piece flattened tubular member is formed into the shape of a U. The formed bottom of the U can be mounted over an automobile glass window and then the window is closed so as to retain the device mounted on an automobile. The ends of the flattened tubular member are slanted or tapered transversely to the width of the tubular member so that when the device is mounted in one direction on an automobile window, forward motion of the automobile will effect a vacuum along the outer edge of the tubular member and thus suck air from inside the automobile. When the device is mounted in the opposite direction on an automobile window, pressure created by movement of the vehicle along the outer edge of the tubular member creates air pressure within the automobile.
Abstract: A pump assembly for effecting fluid flow of high temperature cooking oil in a cooker and the like includes a support extension tube having a drive motor mounted at one end thereof and a centrifugal pump housing mounted at the other end, an impeller contained within the pump housing and drivingly connected to the drive motor by a drive shaft connection, a bearing in the housing for supporting the drive shaft closely adjacent to the impeller, and a runner and skirt structure between the drive shaft and the support extension tube for the purpose of minimizing oil leakage. The runner and skirt having a designed clearance to avoid interference, binding or freeze-up of the rotating elements due to temperature expansion thereof after operation with high temperature cooking oil over an extended period of time. A vacuum connection between the pump input and the support tube, together with a vacuum breaker structure for the support tube, also are very important included elements of this pump assembly.
Abstract: A transmission system (12) for a vehicle has a differential assembly with a pair of output shafts (18) connected to front and rear differentials, or wheels, respectively of the vehicle. A control unit (26) is provided to control the slip of each output shaft (18) relative to the rotational speed of the differential assembly, each control unit being overdriven at the maximum allowable speed of the output shafts (18) relative to the differential assembly. Each control unit (26) has a sliding gear (30) engaged on a control shaft (24) and is engageable with teeth (33) on the ends of the housing (31) of the control unit to releasably lock the output shaft (18) to the control unit (26).
Abstract: Non-electric and non-explosive fuse-like initiating device which makes use of a process of propagation of a gaseous plasma generated by deflagration of a pyrotechnic material deposited as a layer on the inner surface of a supporting duct, employing transfer of thermal energy given by an instantaneous source of heat from one end to the other of the duct, for application in the art of blasting with a fuse-like function. The pyrotechnic mixture applied to the supporting duct is subjected to a suitable mixing process to ensure cohesive properties so that the mixture will adhere in the proper manner to the inner surface of the supporting duct and permit great flexibility in the density of the lining charge. Use of a pyrotechnic mixture to line the inner surface of the duct permits the use of a vast range of chemical substances.
