  • Patent number: 8348257
Abstract: A retard roller of an automatic document feeder provides a frictional force to separate plural documents from each other. The retard roller can provide a first damping torque and a second damping torque with different directions. The second damping torque is smaller than the first damping torque. As such, the frictional force exerted on the document is reduced for returning the document out of the automatic document feeder. A retard roller module having such a retard roller is also provided.

  • Patent number: 8346924
Abstract: Systems and methods for pre-configuring a media device or other information handling system so as to be authorized to gain access to one or more destination networks. Pre-configuring the device includes determining what admission requirements the destination network providers require for access and then generating and providing to the media device a network admission coupon that includes the required information. In some embodiments this may be accomplished by a service center, which removes the need for additional authentication steps to be performed by the media device or the destination network providers.

  • Patent number: 8343525
Abstract: An antiseptic cleaning agent, generally, comprising chlorhexidine acetate and a solvent, such as an alcohol and/or water. The chlorhexidine acetate acts as a highly effective biocide. Additionally, the chlorhexidine acetate allows the cleaning agent to dry without leaving a tacky residue. Where the cleaning agent comprises one or more alcohols, the alcohols may comprise any suitable alcohols, including lower alcohols having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, such as ethanol and isopropanol. Where the ratio of ethanol to isopropanol may be from between about 1:1000 to about 1000:1. In addition to chlorhexidine acetate, the cleaning agent optionally comprises another non-alcohol biocide, such as triclosan. The cleaning agent can be used in any suitable manner. For instance, the cleaning agent may be impregnated in an absorbent material, such as a towelette, swabstick, or gauze. Additionally, the absorbent material may comprise a positively charged or a non-ionic substance, such as polypropylene or polyester.

  • Patent number: 8329548
Abstract: A field transistor for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection and method for making such a transistor is described. The field transistor includes a gate conductive layer pattern formed on a field oxide layer. Since the gate conductive layer pattern is formed on the field oxide layer, a thin gate insulating layer having a high possibility of insulation breakdown is not used. To form an inversion layer for providing a current path between source and drain regions, a field oxide layer is interposed to form low concentration source and drain regions overlapped by the gate conductive layer pattern.
