Abstract: A method of fabricating opto-electronic device includes steps of introducing a first reacting gas flow, a second reacting gas flow and (a) dopant(s) into a reactor to form epilayer(s) on a substrate wherein the ratio of the first reacting gas and the second reacting gas is different in each reacting stages. By providing suitable epilayer growth conditions which need neither expensive equipment nor highly technical steps, high quality doped ZnSe can be obtained and fabricating pure blue light light-emitting diode becomes possible.

Abstract: Halogenated oligonucleotides and particularly radiohalogenated oligonucleotides are prepared by reacting a modified oligonucleotide with a trialkylstannylaryl reagent, such as an active ester of 4-(tri-n-butyl)benzoic acid. The modified oligonucleotide has a reactive group, such as an NH.sub.2 group, covalently attached to a terminal phosphate or to a heterocyclic base, which reacts with the trialkylstannylaryl reagent to provide a trialkylstannylaryl-ODN conjugate. The trialkylstannyl group of the trialkylstannylaryl-ODN conjugate is rapidly replaced by halogen upon treatment with electrophilic halogen, such as I.sup.+, that is formed when a halogen salt is treated with an oxidizing agent. The trialkylstannylaryl-ODN conjugate is significantly more lipophilic than the halogenated ODN and is readily separated from the halogenated ODN by simple reverse phase column chromatography.

Abstract: Two-dimensional microcarriers for culture of anchorage dependent cells are formed having two opposed and parallel anchorage surfaces and a thickness so thin that cells attach only to the surfaces and not between the surfaces. Preferably, each of the surfaces is less than about 500 microns in each of its two dimensions, the thickness is not more than about 35 microns, the microcarriers have a shape resulting from the orthogonal or oblique intersection of two parallel planes separated by a distance of not more than 35 microns with a solid cylinder and the microcarriers are made from a hydrophobic polymeric material such as polystyrene, polycarbonate or polyterephthalate. The microcarriers can be microdisks having a density of between 0.90 and 1.10 g/cm.sup.3. The anchorage surfaces may be treated to enable cell attachment by applying a thin metallic deposit such as a titanium deposit or by electrical corona discharge. The microcarriers may be transparent to light waves and capable of withstanding sterilization.

Abstract: A select fire gun assembly for jet perforating includes a plurality of shaped charges capable of being detonated by blasting caps activated by passage of current through the cap. The first electric terminal of each blasting cap of the gun assembly is grounded. A second terminal of each blasting cap is connected through an electronic switch to the output of a diode, with the input of the diode being connected to the logging cable. The polarity of the diodes are arranged in alternative sequence. The gate of the electronic switch is also connected to the diode through a large resistor and to the ground or a dart through another resistor. These electronic switches are closed when the gate is grounded. Current can flow through the blasting cap only when the gate is grounded and when the diode associated with the blasting cap is of the appropriate polarity to allow current to pass through.

Each of the cassettes (8) is adapted to be mounted on a selected printing module (A-F) to cooperate with the module (A-F) during production of printed matters and contains means for a specific web processing technology that will be provided by the selected printing module (A-F) when the cassette (8) has been mounted to it. The different cassettes (8) may contain web processing means of a great variety, such as offset printing means, dry offset printing means, letterpress printing means, serigraphy means, hot foil application means, flexographic means, raised printing means, punching means, means for printing electronically generated images, etc.
Abstract: An environmentally sound apparatus for automatically extracting and injecting lubricating fluids is disclosed. The apparatus includes one or more sources of lubricating fluid, a waste fluid tank, and a source of compressed air, all with associated fluid-level sensing status switches, as well as other status switches for vacuum and low battery voltage. Signals from such status switches and from a fluid flow monitoring pulse meter are relayed to a central processing unit which operates through a front control panel to control a valved single pump and a plurality of valved lines in fluid communication with the single pump, and to display error messages to front control panel indicators when appropriate. Waste fluid is evacuated, from a crankcase oil pan of an internal combustion engine through one computer-determined arrangement of open valves and fluid lines, to the waste tank.

Abstract: An infusion pump for providing a pressurized liquid flow from a collapsible, deformable reservoir bag includes a magnetically actuated pressurizing member that applies a pressure to the bag in response to the force of magnetic attraction applied by a magnet. In several embodiments, a bag is seated on a platen of magnetizable metal, and a magnet with a compressing surface is mounted for movement toward and away from the platen. As the magnet is moved toward the platen by the force of magnetic attraction, the bag is pressurized between the magnet and the platen. The magnet may be spring biased either toward or away from the platen to alter the relationship between the decreasing volume of the bag and the pressure applied to it, by compensating in a known manner for the change in the magnitude of the magnetic force with the distance between the magnet and the platen.

Abstract: A board game comprises a board and a set of movable pieces for each of two players. The board is marked into a matrix of spaces forming a plurality of concentric perimeters, the innermost perimeter surrounding a single central space. Each perimeter comprises a separate level, the outermost perimeter being the lowermost level, and the central space forming the uppermost level. Each level has selected "jumping" spaces. A player may move a piece may only to an adjacent space on the same level, except when (1) the piece is on a jumping space, or (2) another piece is on an adjacent space on the same level, or (3) another piece is on adjacent space on the next higher level. When a piece is on a jumping space, it may jump to the immediately adjacent space on the next higher level. When another piece is on an adjacent space on the same level, the piece to be moved may jump over that piece to the next space on the same level.
