Patent number: 4676030Abstract: A force transducer and circuit are used to detect the edge of a rotating grinding wheel. The force transducer produces an output signal indicative of a force applied thereto. The output signal is filtered by a high pass filter coupled to the output of the transducer. The amplitude of the filtered transducer output signal is compared to a reference value. An output pulse is produced if the amplitude reaches a predetermined level with respect to the reference value. A timer responsive to a first output pulse establishes a fixed interval during which the number of subsequent output pulses is counted. If the number of pulses counted during the fixed interval reaches a predetermined quantity, a control signal indicative of edge contact of the grinding tool with the force transducer is produced.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 1986Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Assignee: Moore Special Tool Co., Inc.Inventor: Harold W. Patent number: 4675574Abstract: A monitoring device for use with a loop circuit including a plurality of lights, which includes a monitoring current transformer having a magnetic core with a primary circuit connected in series with the loop and a secondary circuit coupled to the primary circuit, the primary circuit being arranged such that the loop current saturates the transformer core and the secondary circuit being in open-circuit condition, the monitoring current transformer generating a monitoring voltage signal in response to each inversion of the loop current. The monitoring voltage signal is used to generate a window signal during the time interval when the monitoring voltage signal has a significant value and the window signal is then used to control the integration of a signal representative of the loop voltage with a view to producing a detecting signal which is indicative of the number of defective lights. The integration time interval is thereby determined whatever the loop current waveform may be.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 1985Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Assignee: n.v. Patent number: 4657994Abstract: An improved process for continuously producing ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing 20 to 50 mole % of ethylene is provided. An aliphatic alcohol solvent is employed in the polymerization vessel. Ethylene vapor discharged from the polymerization vessel is introduced into the tubes of the lower part of a multi-tubular heat exchanger. Vinyl acetate is introduced into the upper part of the heat exchanger and caused to flow through said tubes, thereby effecting absorption and solubilization of ethylene into the vinyl acetate. The solubilized ethylene and vinyl acetate is passed to the polymerization vessel. The process of this invention permits the stable production of the copolymer over a long period of time.Type: GrantFiled: January 6, 1986Date of Patent: April 14, 1987Assignee: Kuraray Co., Ltd.Inventors: Junsuke Tanaka, Kenji Matsumoto

Patent number: 4645219Abstract: The invention relates to a chuck in which the clamping jaws are connected with the chuck body via radially deflectable arms. Two flat parallel arms are preferably provided for each clamping jaw. These arms act like leaf springs and form a parallelogram link arrangement for the associated clamping jaw. The clamping jaws and arms are preferably designed in one piece with the chuck body by forming slots in corresponding projections of the chuck body by means of wire erosion. The clamping jaws are actuated in accordance with the invention via a wedge face arrangement comprising a two-armed lever for each clamping jaw. A short arm of the lever engages the associated clamping jaw whereas a wedge face provided on a distinctly longer arm of the lever interacts with an actuating element, in particular a roller, of the axially displaceable actuating member.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1985Date of Patent: February 24, 1987Assignee: Index-Werke Komm. Patent number: 4638399Abstract: Apparatus which can be embodied in an electronic wristwatch monitors the integrity of a wrist strap ground. An input terminal to which a known ground is coupled is provided. An oscillator produces a fixed frequency which is mixed with a signal from the input terminal to provide a composite signal. The composite signal is coupled to one input of an exclusive OR-gate. The other input of the exclusive OR-gate is coupled directly to the output of the oscillator. The output of the OR-gate is processed to produce an output signal indicative of the phase relationship between the oscillator output and the composite signal. When the input terminal is grounded, the phase relationship between the oscillator output and the composite signal changes, resulting in a change in the output signal which can be used to trigger an indicator (e.g., visual display and/or aural alarm) to indicate to a user whether he or she is properly grounded.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 1985Date of Patent: January 20, 1987Assignee: Plug-In Storage Systems, Inc.Inventors: Ralf P.
