    Abstract: An exhaust system for two-stroke cycle internal combustion engines comprises a diffuser, which is adapted to be connected to the internal combustion engine, a baffle, which is provided downstream of the diffuser, a catalytic converter, which is disposed between said diffuser and said baffle, and a diffuser discharge pipe, which extends in said diffuser and is much smaller in diameter than the largest diameter of the exhaust system. In order to ensure that the catalytic converter will be lighted off quickly and that the gas dynamics will not adversely be affected to an appreciable degree, the diffuser discharge pipe extends from a location adjacent to the exhaust gas outlet of the cylinder and the inlet of the diffuser to the catalytic converter and merges by means of a steep funnel into the catalytic converter.

    Abstract: A scale member is provided with a scale, which can be optoelectronically scanned. In association with that scale, a scanning unit is provided, which comprises scanning sets for generating measured-value signals, and an evaluating unit is provided for deriving digital countable signals from said measured-value signals. A reference track comprising a plurality of reference marks is provided on the scale member and is parallel to the scale and the scanning unit comprises scanning sets for scanning the reference track. A control circuit is provided, which permits a generation or delivery of reference pulses only in response to the scanning of selected ones of the reference marks. To permit such selection, the scale member is provided with a control track, which can be scanned by the same method as the scale and the reference marks and which has a signal-generating characteristic which varies along the scale so that a signals have different levels are generated by an associated scanning set.

    Abstract: Refractory, gas-permeable bubbling plugs for a vessel containing a molten metal have a cold end remote from the molten metal and a hot end facing the molten metal. The hot plug end is subject to wear by the heat radiated from the molten metal to leave a remaining plug size after wear, and such plugs comprise at least one measuring probe displaying the remaining plug size. According to the invention, the measuring probe comprises a small tube having a tip extending into the plug and spaced a predetermined distance from the cold plug end, and an end section protruding from the cold plug end, a wire movably mounted within the small tube, a spring preloading the wire, a connection connecting an end of the wire to the tip of the small tube and detachable by the effect of the radiated heat, and an optical display unit attached to the wire in the protruding end section of the measuring probe tube.

    Abstract: The tablet dispenser comprises a drawer, which is adapted to be extracted into engagement with a stop from one end of a tubular protective housing and in its extracted position is adapted to be supplied with a columnlike stack of tablets. The tablets can be advanced as far as to an ejector, which is mounted on that portion of the drawer which protrudes from the protective housing. The ejector is operable to eject each tablet transversely to the longitudinal direction of the stack while the tablet is guided between spaced apart side guides. The side guides consist of clamping holders, which protrude beyond the end of the tubular protective housing and which receive one tablet at a time. Each tablet can be pushed between the clamping holders in that the drawer is raised. The drawer is provided near its bottom end with a foot for supporting the tablet stack. A tilting of the tablets in the housing is prevented by longitidinal guides.
