Abstract: A single side interconnectable ink jet printhead. In one embodiment thereof, the ink jet printhead includes a lower body portion having a plurality of conductive sections mounted to a top side of the lower body portion and a corresponding plurality of conductive pins projecting from a bottom side of the lower body portion. Each of the conductive sections is electrically connected to the corresponding one of the conductive pins. A bottom side surface of each one of a plurality of generally parallel, longitudinally extending first intermediate body portions, each formed of an active piezoelectric material poled in a first direction parallel to the top side surface of the lower body portion is conductively mounted to a portion of the top side surface of the lower body portion.
Abstract: A computer system has control circuitry for detecting directly and independently of temperature the malfunctioning of a fan used for cooling the housing of the computer and for controlling the power supply voltage when malfunctions are detected so as to reduce the temperature within the housing of the computer system.
Abstract: A personal computer has at least one heat producing element within its housing with a fan for cooling the inside of the housing. The fan is controlled by a temperature dependent fan control circuit. A heat sensing device within the fan control circuit adjusts the voltage applied to the fan in a substantially continuous relationship to the temperature inside the housing.
Abstract: A method and apparatus are available for manufacturing a printed circuit board assembly by reworking a ball grid array component on a populated circuit board. The component is first aligned over the landing area on the board. Then hot gas is injected between the component and the board. This gas is hot enough to reflow the solder balls on the component. Then the component is connected to the landing area of the board. The component is held away from the board during the reflow step and is dropped onto the landing area after the solder balls reflow. A special nozzle and nozzle insert are used to hold the component away from the PCB by means of a vacuum suction.
Abstract: The orientation of a polarized capacitor is determined by applying a voltage signal to one of the leads of the capacitor and a reference signal to the other lead. The magnitude of the electric field thus generated by the capacitor is measured. Then the voltage signal and the reference signal are reversed. The magnitude of the new electric field thus generated by the capacitor is measured. The ratio of the magnitudes of the first measured electric field to the second measured electric field is computed. If the ratio is greater than one, then the capacitor is determined to be properly oriented. If the ratio is less than one, then the capacitor is determined to be improperly oriented.
