  • Patent number: 8181384
Abstract: A device for interrupting the gestating cycle of a mosquito includes a container having a bottom wall and side walls. A generally porous sheet of material is placed over the upper opening thus formed in the container by securing it to the periphery of the container. Double sided tape, mechanical clips, etc. may be used to attach the porous material to the periphery of the container to cover the open area. The porous sheet of material is farametis and contains apertures that are small enough to prevent an adult mosquito from passing through it but yet allow evaporation of water placed into the container and water molecules through the apertures. A sticky substance is placed on the outer surface of the porous sheet. Water is evaporated from the container and water molecules are released through the apertures into the atmosphere above the porous sheet. Gestating mosquito's are attracted to the device and attempt to enter the container to lay there eggs in the water within the container but can not.

  • Patent number: 8176805
Abstract: The invention relates to a spindle bearing arrangement for a longitudinal seat adjusting gear, which has a housing which can be attached by an attaching device on a vehicle-side component or on a seat component, whereby a spindle opening for guiding a spindle along a spindle opening axis runs through the housing and whereby an inner thread in the housing in the area of its spindle opening is formed to engage into a spindle run through in this manner, for shifting the housing and the spindle relative to each other along the spindle opening axis. The spindle bearing becomes advantageous in that the inner thread is formed in a spindle nut and the spindle nut is adjustably supported in the housing relative to the spindle opening axis.

  • Patent number: 8167632
Abstract: A collecting rail system provides a bus bar with a floor part and a cover part made from an isolating material. The floor part features at least two chambers for the accommodation of respectively one terminal track, whereby between respectively two chambers a chamber separating wall is disposed, and whereby connector tabs are disposed on the terminal tracks such that the cover part can be placed on the floor part in such a manner that the terminal tracks are covered up and the connector tabs protrude through openings in the cover part. As a result of this arrangement, the floor part as well as the cover part are manufactured by means of an operative extrusion process and the openings are subsequently placed, in particular stamped, into the cover part, whereby an isolating element, which is insertable into an opening and which penetrates, in the inserted state, through the opening and which features a case.

  • Patent number: 8152332
Abstract: A cyclorama light includes a generally enclosed housing forming an interior compartment having a normally horizontal housing axis and an open front defining a window generally arranged within a plane parallel to said axis. A reflector substantially covers the window and has an operative portion that has a substantially uniform cross-section along the housing axis. An LED light emitter array extends along a line substantially parallel to the housing axis, the reflector having a surface configuration and the LED array being arranged in relation to the reflector surface to provide a higher flux density directed toward a far end of a wall or surface to be illuminated and provide a lower flux density directed toward a direction of the near end of the surface to be illuminated, generating a transition flux density between the far and near ends of the surface to be illuminated. The LED array and/or the reflector have optical features for eliminating shadows in the projected light over the entire illuminated surface.

  • Patent number: 8149097
Abstract: An electro-mechanical horn is configured with a body, a sound-generating unit mounted in the body, and a plurality of power source receiving regions for storing at least one removably mounted power source in a storage manner while containing a second power source in an operative manner thereby limiting discontinuity of the operation of the sound-generating unit.

  • Patent number: 8141657
Abstract: The present invention provides a directional drilling apparatus and method for use in drilling bore holes. The apparatus comprises a plurality of movably mounted cutting elements, wherein the cutting elements are movable between radially retracted and extended cutting positions. A rotary valve is provided for synchronizing the movement of the cutting elements between their respective extended and retracted positions. Control of the directional drilling system is affected by synchronized movement of the cutting elements from an inner to an outer radial position in accordance with the angular position of the drill bit. Means are provided for directing high pressure cutting fluid to the region between the cutting elements and the rotatable body to prevent the accumulation of debris that could prevent movement of the cutting elements. The cutting elements enlarge the bore hole formed by the drill bit, so that the cutting elements continuously engage the wall of the bore hole.

  • Patent number: 8099249
Abstract: The invention is a method and system for detection and compensation of a rapid change in temperature on a pressure measurement cell, in which a measurement signal proportional to the deflection of a diaphragm is generated by means of a sensor. A reference signal proportional to the deflection of the diaphragm is generated by a second sensor; and, measured values are generated by a microprocessor from the measurement signal while the respective reference values are generated from the reference signal. The reference values are compared with the expected values from a tolerance band, and either a pressure-induced deflection of the diaphragm is detected when there is a correspondence, and the measured values are output as measured values for the measured pressure; or, if there is not a correspondence, a deflection of the diaphragm due to a rapid change in temperature is detected, the measured values are corrected and output.
