Abstract: A control system for transmission devices equipped with a high-efficiency coding scheme in a communication network which avoids degradation of the quality of an acoustic signal for transmission and permits an efficient transfer of the acoustic signal. The control system has a structure in which: information on a high-efficiency coding scheme used in the preceding transmission device is sent to the current exchange from the preceding one through the use of an out-band signaling system for transmitting and receiving a call control signal via a channel different from a speech channel; and based on the information sent to the current exchange, second-placed transmission devices connected to the current and following exchanges avoid effectively decoding/coding of the acoustic signal transferred thereto, or the use of these transmission devices is avoided.
Abstract: A fire detection device comprises a detection element to convert the infrared ray energy into the electric signal, a first extracting unit to extract the signal of a first prescribed frequency range including the flicker frequency of a fire from the output signal of the detection element, a second extracting unit to extract the signal of a second prescribed frequency range including no flicker frequency of a fire but including the frequency on the higher frequency side than that of the first prescribed frequency range from the output signal of the detection element, and a judging unit to judge a fire based on the output signal of the first extracting unit and the output signal of the second extracting unit. The fire detection device is capable of surely discriminating and detecting the flame from other infrared ray energy generation source. A band pass filter or the like need not be increased in number, and the increase in the product price can be prevented.
Abstract: The present invention relates to electronics and especially to semiconductors. It is an improved embodiment of a luminescent diode, intended to increase the radiated power thereof. The device concerned is realized in the form of a securing device comprising a back plate and binding screws. The luminescent diode cover resembles a polyspherical lens with a cylindrical base having guide rods relative to the positionning openings provided in the back plate. The thickness of the back plate is equal to or larger than four thicknesses of light transmitter crystal. The crystal is fastened on the flat portion of the conical reflecting surface formed on the back plate. The depth of the conical surface exceeds two thicknesses of light transmitter crystal, and the resting area of the crystal has a diameter larger than the diagonal of its lower limit, but does not exceed the value of said diagonal by more than one and a half.

Abstract: A magnetic tape apparatus including a cradle movably disposed on a chassis and used for supporting a tape cassette, and a cassette loading mechanism for interlocking the cradle with a driving unit via a moving rod which is reciprocated by the driving unit. The cradle is slightly moved backward when the cradle in a forward standby state is loaded with the tape cassette and by moving the moving rod forward using the driving unit upon detection of the slight backward movement of the cradle, and the cradle is moved backward horizontally before being moved down, so that the tape cassette is set in a predetermined position on the chassis. The driving unit has a first pinion which is rotated forward and backward and a first rack integrally formed with the moving rod and made to engage with the first pinion.
Abstract: A program-viewing inhibition device comprises a memory for storing inhibition level data indicative of a predetermined level of unsuitability rating of a broadcasting program, a control section for determining whether or not an input channel received is acceptable by comparing inhibition level data extracted from a broadcast signal of an received input channel with the inhibition level data read out of the memory, and for changing the input channel to another channel when it is judged that the input channel is unacceptable or to be rejected for its viewing. Accordingly, a manual operation to change the input channel to the substitute channel when the input channel is unacceptable for viewing can be eliminated.
Abstract: An adjustable safety utility knife includes an elongated ergonomically shaped handle formed of two elongate shell members each having a peripheral edge and an outer generally convex surface and an inner generally concave surface. The shell members are fastened at the peripheral edges along a vertical parting plane to form an elongated internal cavity. The handle defines a front end, a back end and an intermediate portion suitable for being gripped by a user and also defining top and bottom surfaces extending along opposite sides of the shell members along the peripheral edges. The handle has a slot-like aperture at the front end substantially aligned with the parting plane and dimensioned for passage of a flat cutting blade therethrough. A guide element within the elongated cavity guides the cutting blade between a first position for safely storing the blade fully inside the cavity and a second position for selectively extending the blade beyond the aperture to expose at least a portion thereof.

A spring is mounted in the handle having a distal end in contact with the moveablejaw for biasing the moveable jaw toward the fixed jaw. A slidable button is mounted on the top edge of the handle, with a spring mounted between the slidable button and the top edge of the handle. A connector is provided having a distal end fixedly attached to the moveable jaw and a proximal end fixedly attached to the slidable button by a pin. In operation, the pin rides in the slot and fits in the groove.
Abstract: A disc playback device reproduces either a video disc or an audio disc which is loaded and includes a digest playback device for reproducing each track of the video disc for a predetermined time and a scan playback device for reproducing each track on the audio disc for a predetermined time. A special playback instructing device instructs the disc playback device to reproduce each track of the disc which is loaded, for a predetermined time, and a disc type judging device is used for judging the type of disc to be reproduced. A special playback control device operates such that when the special playback instructing device issues an instruction to play back, if the result of judgment by the disc type judging device shows a video disc, the special playback control device drives the digest playback device, and if the result of judgment by the disc type judging device shows an audio disc, the special playback control device drives the scan playback device.

This spacer is provided with a mounting hole capable of mounting wires having different diameters, and a hook and a hook receiver are provided on opposite end surfaces of a substantially V-shaped release portion. Any wire is fixed by simply inserting the wire into the release portion for mounting the same on the mounting hole and thereafter hanging the hook on the hook receiver. Thus, wires having different diameters can be readily mounted and reliably prevented from displacement with a simple structure. The wires can be readily mounted and dismounted by the hook and the hook receiver.

At the time a spot killer circuit discharges a remaining electrical charge held by a Braun tube when the power is turned off, a switching transistor is rendered conductive by using a spot killer pulse signal that instructs the activation of the spot killer circuit. When the negative feedback input side of the operational amplifier drops to the ground level, the center DC value of the vertical output signal is increased, and the amplitude is increased.

Abstract: A device supporting the arm of a fisherman using a spinning-type fishing rod having a cylindrical rod handle, comprising an adjustable rotatable arm cradle supporting the upper forearm of the fisherman, a partially cylindrical elongated handle support member defining a partially cylindrical compartment that holds a selected area of the fishing rod handle in alignment with the arm cradle, an adjustable post connecting the arm cradle means with the handle, and an adjustable clamp for removably gripping the rod handle to the handle support. The arm cradle is rotatable to a selected angle relative to the rod handle and is removably lockable at the selected angle. The connecting post can be lengthened or shortened to a selected position and removably locked at that position.
