    Abstract: A seat belt buckle mounting device for use in motor vehicles and the like includes an attachment body that is secured to an anchoring cable and a buckle base plate to which the anchoring body is attached. The attachment body includes longitudinally extending grooves formed on opposite sides thereof and the buckle base plate includes a central aperture for receiving the attachment body and having inwardly extending opposed projections that are designed to enter and forcibly engage the grooved portions of the attachment body to thereby fixedly secure the attachment body to the buckle base plate. The present invention advantageously provides a seat belt buckle mounting device in which the piece parts are both simple to manufacture and assemble when compared to prior devices.

    Abstract: An air conditioner system for an automotive vehicle is provided with a main and an auxiliary cooling unit for discharging cooling air to respective front and rear portions of the vehicle compartment. The main and auxiliary cooling units operate to control air flow amounts independently of each other. A main control switch for controlling the amount of cooling air from the main cooling unit cooperates with a pair of auxiliary cooling unit switches to control the auxiliary cooling unit. One member of the pair of auxiliary cooling unit switches is provided adjacent the driver's seat and the other adjacent the rear seat for turning the auxiliary cooling unit on and off. The auxiliary cooling unit can be controlled by either one of the pair of switches as long as the main control switch is on.

    Abstract: In a serum separator, a sampling tube fits inside of a test tube. The sampling tube is provided with an elastomeric piston head at the lower end thereof having an annular lip to engage and form a seal with the inner sidewalls of the test tube. The upper side of the lip is provided with irregularities to break the seal between the lip and the test tube wall upon removal of the sampling tube from the test tube. A porous plastic filter body is mounted in a cavity in the piston head. The piston head defines a one-way valve in the form of a ball chamber containing a ball check. When the sampling tube is pushed into the test tube with a blood sample in the test tube, serum will pass through the filter body and valve into the interior of the sampling tube. The valve is constructed so that the serum cannot squirt toward the top of the sampling tube. When the sampling tube has been inserted, the valve will close.

A light pipe, or a second fiber optic cable, is positioned to have one end on the axis of the annulus to receive diffusely reflected light from the test surface and transmit the reflected light to photodetectors through different color filters. The output signals of the photodetectors are applied to the colorimetry console which converts the photodetector signals to standard color index values.

    Abstract: A catalytic converter is adapted to retard spark timing to increase the temperature of the converter catalyst when a temperature sensor within the converter senses low exhaust temperature. A vacuum advance mechanism is responsive to intake manifold vacuum conducted thereto via an intake vacuum passageway to advance spark timing for the engine. The temperature of exhaust gas from a catalytic converter for exhaust emissions is sensed. When the sensed temperature of the exhaust is below a predetermined value, a comparator outputs an actuation signal which is used to cause a solenoid valve to open an air passageway to admit atmospheric air into the vacuum advance mechanism so that spark timing will be retarded, thereby increasing the temperature of the catalyst.
