  • Patent number: 5537310
Abstract: An internal model control (IMC) automatically corrects the gain of the internal model control when the settings in the internal model are improper. The controller calculates and outputs a manipulated variable according to an IMC control algorithm, and an adaptive tuning section adaptively tunes the model gain of an internal model such that change rates of the controlled variable and the reference controlled variable used in said IMC section become the same value during a control response period in a transient state. When a transient state of control is detected, a transient state detection signal is output and a response start region is detected. The change rates of the controlled variable and the reference controlled variable in this response start region are determined. The corrected gain of the internal model is calculated from the change rates of the controlled variable and the reference controlled variable in the response start region.

  • Patent number: 5533391
Abstract: An electrical rain sensor to be mounted on the outside of a main frame of an openable window, particularly a skylight, comprising a sensing element with two electrodes mounted opposite one another in an insulating holder, the distance between the electrodes being less than the size of a raindrop. To the electrodes an electric circuit is connected which by detection of a change in an electrical quantity caused by the presence of raindrops, activates a maneuvering device which closes the window. The holder (8) is produced by molding of an electrically insulating thermoplastic, wherein the supply lines to the electrodes (15, 16) as well as a heating element for the drying of the sensor are produced as inserts in the holder by molding of an electrically conductive thermoplastic polymer into excavated recesses and/or grooves in the holder (8).

  • Patent number: 5530469
Abstract: An interactive television system in which the television program and a computer program are integrated to provide a viewer-friendly environment in which the viewer can participate on a real time basis with other viewers. The programmed computer system receives inputs from viewers in response to the television program content. A programmed interactive computer system processes the viewer inputs in accordance with parameters and algorithms correlated with the transmitted television program material. The system processes, for each participating viewer, his or her results based on the algorithm for the broadcast television program and the inputs of the other participating viewers. This individual data is stored and is made accessible to the viewer; in the preferred embodiment via a voice synthesizer to the participating viewer who initiates a call to the system.

  • Patent number: 5525995
Abstract: In a system for detecting the position and trajectory of a target, Doppler measurements from a bistatic continuous wave radar system are used exclusively to provide information about the target. Radar signals are transmitted to the target by a plurality of transmitters and at least one receiver is provided to receive the signals from the target and make Doppler measurements. A nonlinear least squares estimator is used to estimate the initial target position and a Kalman filter is used to predict the target trajectory from the initial position assumed by the NLS estimator and from the Doppler measurements. The Kalman filter also generates a set of predicted Doppler measurements from the predicted trajectory. The nonlinear least squares estimator is used to compute a correction to the estimated initial position from partial differentials of the initial position and from the differences between the predicted and actual Doppler measurements.
