  • Patent number: 5697512
Abstract: An improved tray which can be held and stabilized using one hand and forearm is disclosed. The surface of the tray is positioned away from the forearm so that hot foods can be provided on the tray surface without injury or discomfort to one using the tray. A stabilizing member which has a shape generally conforming to the curvature of the forearm is positioned on one side of the tray and on the opposite side extends a cup holder. The stabilizer element and cup holder extend downwardly from the tray an equal distance which enables the device to be rested on a table or flat surface. • Patent number: 5690276
Abstract: A thermostat having a main valve and a secondary valve is disclosed both of which are biased closed by a single coiled compression spring and opened by a single piston. The entrance to the channel of the secondary valve is maintained at a maximum dimension of approximately 0.015 inches in order to keep undesirable particulate matter out of the valve. The surfaces within the valve channel encourage laminar flow which increases the volume of flow which can be passed through the valve while keeping the total surface area of the valve small.

  • Patent number: 5686928
Abstract: A multi-element, H plane, phased, dipole array antenna has a high gain over a wide angle in azimuth and over a controlled sector in elevation. Two printed wiring boards feed and physically support the dipole antenna elements. The phase and spacing of the dipole elements establish the radiation elevation angle, and a planar metallic reflector, spaced on the order of a half wavelength of the RF signal from the dipole array, interacts with the dipole-element pattern, to provide the wide angle azimuth gain.

  • Patent number: 5680138
Abstract: In a simulated synthetic aperture radar SAR, a terrain elevation model is provided. A phase component of the simulated SAR data is computed by determining a distance between incremental terrain points and a simulated SAR platform modulo the wavelength. The amplitude component is computed in the following manner. The terrain elevation model is rotated about a vertical axis to present terrain strips extending perpendicular to the assumed direction of travel of the SAR platform. Points distributed along the terrain strips are projected into an illumination plane perpendicular to the assumed SAR signal and into an image plane perpendicular to the illumination plane.

  • Patent number: 5676517
Abstract: Thin sheets on which a product is held by limited adhesion are transferred from a first conveyor onto a speedup conveyor which slides the sheets, one by one, onto a pair of intermittently rotatable paddles. The paddles comprise a lattice of low-friction material and define receiving surfaces angled toward one another along a direction in which the sheets slide. The paddles rotate 1/2 revolution in response to the leading sheet on the speedup conveyor passing a photocell and form a stack in a compartment on an intermittently moving conveyor below. When a predetermined count of sheets is in the stack, the intermittently moving conveyor is advanced to move an empty compartment under the paddles.
