Abstract: A Hydroseed substrate for mixing with other ingredients such as water, seeds, fertilizer, wetting agents and dye, to produce Hydroseeding slurry is disclosed. The substrate includes cellulose materials (e.g. cardboard, paper and/or wood) and an absorbent. The absorbent is a super absorbent polymer such as linear polyacrylamide (—CH2CHCONH2—) or copolymers of acrylamide (C3H5NO) polymers. The super absorbent polymer improves moisture retention, improves viscosity, reduces friction, and improves coverage of the hydroseed mixture.

Abstract: An application for a clamp guide for joining a flexible hose to a rigid, hollow shaft having at least two beads, the clamp guide has an arced surface for interfacing with a head bead of the at least two beads and two clamp guide arms. Each of the clamp guide arms has at least two bumps and each bump is aligned with one of the beads thereby forming registration areas between each pair of bumps. The arced surface has an inner diameter equal to an outer diameter of the rigid, hollow shaft and the arced surface has an inner circumferential length greater than one half of the circumference of the rigid, hollow shaft.

Abstract: An application for a computer system providing a social network for traveling people includes social network software executing on a server computer for providing social network functions. The social network software maintains a list of members and, for each member, maintains a list of buddies of the member, the buddies also being in the list of members. At least one schedule is available, either internal to the social network or external to the social network and extraction software extracts layover data from the schedule(s) and analysis software finds members with layovers in the layover data.

Abstract: An application for a device that bends a workpiece includes a rotary hydraulic actuator. The rotary hydraulic actuator is fluidly coupled to a controlled source of hydraulic fluid pressure and has an rotating flange that turns responsive to the hydraulic fluid pressure. A bending member is coupled to the rotating flange of the rotary hydraulic actuator and rotates responsive to the rotational motion of the rotating flange. A bending mandrel is mounted on a face of the bending member at a center of rotation of the bending member and a force mandrel mounted on the face of the bending member. An actuator controls the hydraulic fluid pressure and clips are provided for attaching the device for bending to a boom of, for example, a skid-steer loader.

Abstract: An application for a method of heating water includes transferring the water from a water supply into an inner tank of the water heater which is held within an outer tank, transferring the water from the inner tank into an outer tank and then to supply a building with hot water. The water in the outer tank is heated with hot gasses, partially cooling to intermediate temperature gasses. The water in the inner tank is heated with the intermediate temperature gasses, further cooling the intermediate temperature gasses into cooler gasses that are then exhausted out of the water heater.

Abstract: An application for a safe or strong box attaches to a larger, heavy object and provides improved security to its contents from unwanted removal. The safe or strong box has a revolving door that, when a proper code/combination/biometric is provided, rotatably opens to expose the contents. In one embodiment, the safe/strong box interfaces to, for example, a bedding system using a barbed plate that readily inserts between a box spring and a mattress, but due to the barbs, is difficult to remove without lifting the mattress from the box spring making it at least difficult to remove by, for example, children in the home. In some embodiments, sound dampening devices are provided to provide a quiet retraction of the revolving door, so as to not alert an intruder when the occupant is retrieving a weapon such as a pistol.

Abstract: A knee orthosis device provides medial, lateral, and rotational control of a knee joint. The novel knee orthosis device stabilizes an injured or surgically repaired, or a weakened knee joint having a neurological disability, which causes instability therein, by applying adjustable corrective and therapeutic forces, which operate to stabilize and protect the knee as well as to correct abnormal gait and to rehabilitate the knee joint and surrounding muscles above and below the knee by encouraging and recruiting said muscles to operate again more normally through the use of a dynamic swing assist mechanism. The knee orthosis also provides dynamically conformable thigh and shin cuff circumferential band systems in combination with a multitude of other elements that conform to the constant dimensional changes of the muscle groups that are surrounded by the knee orthosis device during ambulatory or athletic motion.

Abstract: A knee orthosis has two vertical struts positioned on opposed sides of a knee joint in a generally parallel relationship. Each vertical strut has a hinge member located at a general middle portion; each vertical strut has a top and bottom end portion. An upper thigh cuff attaches at opposed ends to the upper end portions of the two vertical struts whereas a lower shin cuff attaches at opposed ends to the lower end portions. The lower shin cuff has a pair of hinges located proximal to the shin cuff opposed ends for permitting the shin cuff to pivot downwardly away from a shin of a person wearing the knee orthosis. An alternate embodiment employs hinges located proximal to the thigh cuff opposed ends for permitting the thigh cuff to pivot upwardly away from a thigh of a person when the same motion is performed.

Abstract: An application for a music system includes an enclosure and at least one cavity formed in the enclosure. The cavity(s) have side slots sized to interface with a hand of a person and have an opening towards the top. The opening towards the top of each of the cavities is sized to accept and hold a microphone. The cavities are used to carry the system and alternately hold one or more microphones.

Abstract: A signal lamp control system for one rear side of a vehicle receives a signal or voltage from the vehicle (near side signal) originally intended to turn on all signal lamps on that side. Responsive to that signal, the signal lamp control system either turns on all signal lamps on that side or sequentially turns on the signal lamps on that side, depending on a status of a signal or voltage from the vehicle (far side signal) originally intended to control the signal lamps on the opposite rear side of the vehicle. In some embodiments, the signal lamp control system has knowledge of the state of the other side before the near side signal transitions on. This distinguishes between near-side signal activation (alone), brake activation, brake activation with near-side signal activation and hazard warning activation.

Abstract: An application for a clamp tool that has stop edges and ear edges. In one embodiment, stop edges close against each other while the ear edges, being cut deeper than the stop edges, do not touch each other and provide a space between which an ear of a clamp is position and closed by the clamp tool without cutting or nicking unnecessarily into the ear of the clamp. In some embodiments, the width of the stop edges is made to provide an alignment tool for proper alignment of the clamp on a hose over features of a fitting.

Abstract: A gasket (1) and seat (2) system for sealing a joint, such as flanges (3, 4), tube or pipe couplings, housings, shafts, is disclosed. The gasket (1) comprises according to one embodiment an inner portion (10), with a wall (17) facing an interior of the coupling and an outer portion (11), which extends axially forming radial end walls (12, 13). The inner portion (10) of the gasket (1) is formed with an angled wall (18), making the inner portion (10) expand inwards, which angled wall (18) interacts with a matching angled wall (25) of the seat (2), such that the joint has provisions for increasing the sealing ability in cases with increased pressure in the coupling.

Abstract: An application for a music system with rotatable directional speakers includes a console that faces a performer and is mounted on a pedestal. A base is connected to a bottom end of the pedestal to provide support to the pedestal and console. At least one speaker is rotatably mounted on a first side of the pedestal at an angle and at least one other speaker is rotatably mounted on a second side of the pedestal at the angle. When the speakers are rotated away from the performer, a direction of sound from the speakers diverges with respect to the music system and when the speakers are rotated towards the performer, the direction of sound from the speakers converges toward the performer.

Abstract: A dual-reservoir canister for dispensing pills includes a dispensing reservoir and a backup reservoir. Pills (solid medications such as pills, capsules and caplets) are stored in both reservoirs but dispensed only from the dispensing reservoir until the dispensing reservoir is empty, at which time, the dual-reservoir canister is tilted to pour the pills from the backup reservoir into the dispensing reservoir. An access door is provided to refill the backup reservoir and, in some embodiments, the access door includes an extension that prevents pills from accidentally falling into the dispensing reservoir while the backup reservoir is refilled.

Abstract: An application for a neonatal calorimetric carbon dioxide detector has a calorimetric carbon dioxide detector membrane having a pH-sensitive chemical indicator that undergoes calorimetric change in the presence of carbon dioxide. The detector has a patient orifice in fluid communication with the baby's airway and a respiration equipment orifice connected to a breathing system. The patient orifice is connected to a breathing tube and when the breathing tube is inserted correctly into the trachea, as the baby exhales, carbon dioxide interacts with the calorimetric membrane which changes color based upon the concentration of carbon dioxide. The neonatal calorimetric carbon dioxide detector adds a volume of less than or equal to 1 mL after being attached to a breathing circuit.
