Abstract: A plurality of cassettes, each filed with a supply of pills and positioned over a target location. A platen is provided beneath the target location with receptacles configured to hold both vials and blister packs. The platen or the cassette is movable so that any blister of the blister pack or the vial can be positioned under the target location to receive a quantity of pills from the cassette.
Abstract: A method of converting internet messages is provided. A first message database is provided on a first computer which is coupled to the Internet and accessible by users thereof. Internet messages from an Internet discussion forum such as a standard e-mail users group, message forum or newsgroup database can be transferred from the first database to a more specialized forum in a second database on a second computer, also coupled to the Internet, utilizing a protocol provided on the second computer. The messages can be edited and revised for further discussion and eventual publishing as a book, web page or other known publishing format.
Abstract: A karaoke device is included within an enclosure and having a voice pickup element integrated into the enclosure for converting sound waves into an electrical signal. An audio input signal from a DVD player passes into the enclosure and into an electronic circuit for amplifying the electrical signal, for controlling the amplitude of the electrical signal and for mixing the electrical signal and the audio input signal into a mixed audio signal. The resulting audio output signal is delivered to an output device such as a television.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting a low voltage system, such as an alarm system, is described. The method and apparatus includes power line surge protector and a plurality of low-voltage surge protectors housed within a common cabinet. The low-voltage surge protectors are mounted in connectors that provide physical support as well as electrical connections. These electrical connections are routed to a set of input and output terminals by a printed circuit board that also provides support for the connectors and terminals. The combination of power line surge protectors and low-voltage surge protectors may help reduce damage to equipment such as an alarm system during power surges, perhaps caused by electrical storms or heavy electrical equipment being operated nearby. Because of the radio frequency noise emanating from the power line and the power line surge protector, a shield is provided that reduces the amount of noise that is transferred to the low-voltage signal paths.

Abstract: The invention concerns a fluid pump with a cylinder, piston and check valve for compressing the fluid having a high-pressure seal for precluding leakage of pressurized fluid. Any leakage from the high-pressure seal feeds back into an inlet area of the pump and recycles through the pump instead of leaking externally.

Abstract: A method and device for determining the temperature of a sample, wherein a probing light beam is directed onto the sample whereby at least two partial beams of the probing light pass through paths of different lengths inside the sample by backscattering or reflecting the beams from at least two different depths in the sample, returning the partial beams to an analysis unit, and producing an interference pattern in the analysis unit by means of an interferometric device which uses one light beam as a reference for evaluating the interference pattern in an evaluating unit, wherein the signal intensity of the partial beam is determined counter to the optical path and the temperature displacement and temperature of the sample are determined by the temperature adjustment of the signal intensity.
Abstract: A device for detecting impurities in a noble gas includes a detection chamber and a source of pulsed ultraviolet light. The pulse of the ultraviolet light is transferred into the detection chamber and onto a photocathode, thereby emitting a cloud of free electrons into the noble gas within the detection chamber. The cloud of electrons is attracted to the opposite end of the detection chamber by a high positive voltage potential at that end and focused onto a sensing anode. If there are impurities in the noble gas, some or all of the electrons within the cloud will bond with the impurity molecules and not reach the sensing anode. Therefore, measuring a lower signal at the sensing anode indicates a higher level of impurities while sensing a higher signal indicates fewer impurities. Impurities in the range of one part per billion can be measured by this device.
Abstract: A filter apparatus separates fine particles such as pine needles, threads, hairs and seeds from a liquid influent. A rotating grid assembly has multiple grid sections mounted by top-to-bottom connected links, supporting a filter media having specified openings sufficient for entrainment of miniscule particles. Grid sections are interchanged for collection and discharge of various sized particles using the same apparatus.
Abstract: A power system with graphics display includes power inputs, power outputs and power protection and/or power conditioning adapted between the power inputs and power outputs. A graphics display is included in the system for displaying graphic images from an external video source. The graphics system enables the display of images, colors, color patterns, video and the like. The power system provides power protection such as fusing and/or power conditioning such as noise reduction and filtering.

Abstract: A patient transfer method and apparatus designed to efficiently move a patient from one surface to another. A set of straps connected at one end to a winch are passed beneath the patient and attached to a padded support rod on the other side of the patient. The winch is used to pull the straps, and hence the padded support rod, thereby pulling the patient from the first surface to the second.

Abstract: The present invention provides a fishing lure that has a weed guard to reduce weed collection as the lure is pulled through the water. The weed guard consists of one or more stiff metal wires disposed in areas where weeds normally collect between a fishing line attachment and a dive control lip. An additional weed control hat further reduces weed collection where the one or more stiff wires pass through the dive control lip.
Abstract: A shoe suspension system for use with a shoe or boot having an upper and lower sole. The system includes a first tandem hinge pivotally engaged between the upper toe sole and the lower toe sole which opens and closes parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shoe a plurality of tandem hinges pivotally engaged between the upper mid heel sole and the lower sole which also open and close parallel to the longitudinal axis of the shoe and return springs engaged between the upper mid heel sole and the lower sole.
