  • Patent number: 7856739
Abstract: A protective foot cover for use in dance, exercise, or athletic applications using strategically placed protective pieces in ball and heel areas of the foot in connection with an elastic material in the sole structure to allow the foot to move freely and provide less of a barrier between the foot and floor such that a dancer can better sense the floor upon which they dance. The foot cover incorporates strategically placed protective patches that provide support, protection, and comfort to the ball and heel portions of the foot. The patches are spaced from one another so that the footwear is able to move more naturally with the expansion of the foot as pressure is applied to the foot. An elastic band extends in a figure eight configuration from the front of the cover, beneath the arch of the foot where the band overlaps, and around the heel to provide arch support and to hold the cover on the foot.

  • Patent number: 7847006
Abstract: A modifier material and method for making the same is characterized by the addition of a partitioning agent to a polymer material such as synthetic rubber to prevent reagglomeration of the rubber. The partitioning agent reduces the time required to disperse the modifier material in a material to be modified and also reduces the viscosity of the modified material so that the modified material is easier to handle. The partitioning agent preferably includes a mixture of phenyl formaldehyde resin and precipitated silica gel.

  • Patent number: 6284671
Abstract: A porous semiconductor is created by electrochemical etching. Selected regions of a semiconductor are first treated to reduce the threshold potential at which pore formation occurs, and then an electrochemical etch is carried out on the semiconductor at a potential at least equal to the reduced threshold potential for the selected regions and less than the threshold potential for untreated regions. The selective treatment preferably involves implantation with the same ions as the semiconductor, i.e. Si ions for silicon. The treatment results in the formation of highly defined etch patterns or patterns of porous material depending on the process conditions.

  • Patent number: 6280233
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a housing formed of electrical insulating material containing a chamber in which is mounted a resilient clamping member that biases a conductor into electrical engagement with an electrical contact also contained within the chamber. The bare end of the conductor is inserted into the chamber via a first housing opening, and the clamping member is operated to a released condition relative to the conductor by a release tool that is inserted into the chamber via a second housing opening. The clamping member includes a clamping leg having a laterally offset terminal portion that carries a clamping edge adapted to dig into the conductor and thereby retain the same within the chamber. The clamping member also includes a support leg that is operable by the release tool to displace the clamping leg to disengage the clamping edge from the conductor, thereby to release the same for withdrawal from the chamber.
