Abstract: An internal bus connector device is provided for use in the terminal block of an electrical power and signal distribution system, wherein the connector device includes a thin support plate that extends parallel with the support rail of the system and that carries a plurality of rows of pins each of which includes a pair of orthogonally arranged portions that extend parallel with and normal to the support plate, respectively. The pin portions that extend normal to the support plate are adapted for connection with the circuits of an associated printed circuit board, and the pin portions that extend parallel with the support plate are connected with conductors on the terminal block or with corresponding terminals of an adjacent terminal block mounted on the same support rail.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method of filling a dispenser and to the dispenser itself. For already filling a defined part of the head piece (20) when mounting the dispenser after material has been filled into said dispenser and for ensuring an interruption-free dispensing behavior during future operation, it is suggested that, when a first point of airtight sealing of a fluid container (10) by means of a head piece (20) has been reached, the movement of the two elements towards one another should be continued along a predetermined, fixed displacement distance (X). In addition, a dispenser is provided, especially for carrying out the filling method, in which a bottom side of the head piece (20) and a filler opening of the fluid container (10), which is adapted to be coupled to said bottom side, are implemented such that they match.

Abstract: In a system for adjusting the position of a first member relative to a second, support member regarded as fixed, the support member comprises a base having an upright at each of its two ends. The first member is inside the two uprights of the support member and the uprights are substantially parallel to the axis of the first member. The position adjustment system is locked in a chosen position by a clamping device, whose component parts are mounted on a clamping rod passing through the two uprights and whose axis is the clamping axis, which is substantially perpendicular to the axis of the first member.

Abstract: A golf ball having improved aerodynamic efficiency is characterized by the arrangement of a plurality of modified tear-drop shaped dimples arranged on the surface thereof. The ball has a dimple-free equator which divides the ball into two identical hemispheres, each of which is broken into equal portions by a plurality of great circles passing through the poles of the ball. Each portion has a maximum circular area filled with a first plurality of non-circular dimples. A second plurality of non-circular dimples is arranged between the circular areas so that the dimple coverage on the ball is maximized.

Abstract: An adapter for coupling optical and electronic circuits, has a housing including a first portion for mating with an optic fiber termination device, and a second portion for mating with an electronic termination device. At least one electro-optical transducer in the housing has an optical interface for coupling with the optical termination device and an electronic interface for coupling with the electronic termination device. The adapter converts signals between optical and electronic form.

Abstract: A synthetic plastic terminal block assembly includes a housing containing a longitudinal through passage in which is mounted a unitary fastening member having a center portion that is connected with the housing, and a pair of end portions resiliently connected for independent displacement relative to the center portion and to the housing, the end portions having opposed inwardly-directed hook-shaped foot portions adapted to extend under the outwardly extending flanges at the upper ends of the legs of a U-shaped mounting rail, thereby to fasten the terminal block to the rail. With this extremely simple design, the terminal block can be mounted downwardly upon the rail from above. The terminal block can be easily disconnected from the rail at either side, and if necessary, the terminal block can be pivoted laterally away from the rail.

Abstract: An antenna receives beams from telecommunication satellites in geostationary orbit close to the equator. The continuous concave reflecting surface of the reflector of the antenna has an equation deduced from a paraboloid by adding thereto the equation of a correction surface comprising a second order polynomial and a sum of N(2N−1) terms depending on distances between the projection of any point on the reflecting surface and N(2N−1) control points of a grid extending over a plane perpendicular to the plane of symmetry. The angular separation of the primary sources on a circular support with an inclination different from the angle of offset is less than approximately 3° for an aperture of more than 50°.

Abstract: A low power pulse amplifier with low duty cycle errors. The amplifier provides several differential amplifier stages with a biasing and canceling network. To minimize duty cycle errors for large input signals, cascode transistors are added between the drains of the differential amplifiers and the outputs. The result is an amplifier having a duty cycle error of less than 5% at amplitude input ranges from 5 millivolts to the supply voltage.

Abstract: A spherical ball and a method of making the spherical ball wherein the ball has a plurality of elongated dimples substantially covering the outer surface of the ball without any dimple overlap. The elongated dimples are of at least two types including a first plurality of dimples having a minor axis and a major axis which together form the long axis of the first plurality of dimples. The minor axis being less than the major axis. A second plurality of dimples has a minor axis equal to that of the first plurality of dimples and a major axis less than the major axis of the first plurality of dimples but greater than the minor axis.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of controlling a ram speed of a press ram of a metal-forming press, and a driving device, in particular for carrying out this method. According to the present invention, at least one energy storage device is connected to an auxiliary drive having connected thereto the main drive for controlling the ram speed, said energy storage device having supplied thereto the energy released during a negative acceleration of the press ram while from said energy storage device additional energy for the acceleration of the press ram during a further stroke is recovered and fed into the main drive via the auxiliary drive.

Abstract: A device for permanently coupling two shafts rotatable about a common axis comprises a tubular intermediate member disposed between the outer shaft and the inner shaft, an elastic connecting member disposed between the inner shaft and the tubular intermediate member, the elastic member being attached directly to the inner shaft and to the tubular intermediate member; and rotational connecting means between the outer shaft and the tubular intermediate member. When the coupling is mounted on an automobile vehicle steering column, the inner shaft is a tube of the steering shaft and the outer shaft is the connection end of the yoke of a universal joint.

Abstract: A motor vehicle steering column comprises a steering shaft mounted in a body-tube connected via a support assembly to the chassis of the vehicle, the support assembly comprising a mobile support, a fixed support attached to the chassis of the vehicle and a double winding mounted on a member rotating on a fixed shaft. The double winding has a central portion mounted on the mobile support connected to the body tube so that in the event of an impact the mobile support pushes the double winding and unwinds it to absorb energy.

Abstract: A new configuration for dimples on the surface of a golf ball is characterized by at least a portion of the bottom surface of the dimple having a raised contour which is still below the surface of the ball. The contoured portion may comprise many shapes including a crescent or a sinusoidal configuration. Moreover, the contoured portion may have different portions having different depths. The contours within at least some of the dimples on the surface of the ball alter the air flow across the golf ball surface to reduce drag and increase the distance the ball will travel.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for annotation of medical imagery to facilitate patient identification, diagnosis, and treatment is characterized by an imaging device for producing a first signal representative of sensed characteristics of the individual and a minutiae generator which receives the first signal and produces a second signal representative of minutiae of the individual, the minutiae corresponding to specific branch points of blood vessels of the individual. A minutiae data generator analyzes the characteristics of minutiae and produces a third signal representative of the characteristics which is stored in a minutiae database for each of the plurality of known individuals and their medical conditions. The minutiae and minutiae data may be used to annotate medical imagery to facilitate subsequent image comparison by providing standardized registration points and time-varying characteristics.

Abstract: An optical recording medium is provided in which a recording layer contains a salt-forming dye between an ion of an azo metal complex of the following formula (I) and an ion of a cyanine dye of the following formula (II), having a complex index of refraction in the wavelength region of recording light and/or reading light whose imaginary part k is up to 0.20, or at least one of azo oxovanadium metal complexes having an azo compound of the following formula (III) as a ligand and metal complexes having azo compounds of the following formulae (IV) and (V) as a ligand. Recording and reading can be carried out at a conventional wavelength or a short wavelength of about 630-690 nm or both.

To make a connection relating to a module supported by the support, the support rotates about a rotation shaft parallel to two sides of the matrix in a vertical plane, out of the mass of connecting optical fiber ends.

Abstract: In a (Ge,Sb)-Te based optical recording medium of phase change type whose rate determining step in production has been initialization of the recording layer, the time required for production is reduced, and stable recording/reproducing properties are realized from the first overwriting operation. A phase-change type optical recording disc of write once read many-type requiring no initialization is also provided. The optical recording medium comprises a transparent substrate and a recording layer on the transparent substrate. The recording layer comprises at least one Te-based thin film and at least one reactive thin film, and the Te-based thin film is in contact with said reactive thin film. The Te-based thin film is formed from a Te-based material containing at least 95 at % of Te, and the reactive thin film is formed from a (Ge,Sb)-based material mainly comprising Ge and/or Sb. The optical change type material is formed by the mixing of the materials constituting the reactive thin film and Te.
