  • Patent number: 6955278
Abstract: A dispenser includes an improved closure arrangement for sealing the dispenser in such a manner that oxidation of the paste-like product to be dispensed is avoided. The main headpiece is spring biased upwardly toward a first position relative to the container and to the product delivery piston, whereupon the upper end surface of the piston is spaced a given distance from the headpiece, and a cylindrical bearing surface on the headpiece closes the product supply outlets contained in the piston. When the main headpiece is depressed downwardly by the given distance toward an intermediate second position in which the headpiece engages the adjacent piston end surface, the bearing surface on the main headpiece is displaced downwardly to open the piston outlets.

  • Patent number: 6945240
Abstract: In an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus for an internal combustion engine mounted with a turbocharger in which a turbine is disposed in an exhaust passage and a compressor is disposed in an intake passage, when the exhaust gas recirculation is carried out, a port formed at the intake passage on the downstream side of the compressor is opened. As a result, since an intake air on the downstream side of the compressor is released to the atmosphere and a negative pressure in the exhaust passage is lowered, a differential pressure between an exhaust pressure in the intake passage and the negative pressure in the intake passage is increased, to improve an exhaust gas recirculation rate, so that a NOx discharge amount can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 6935967
Abstract: A set of golf club irons of the blade type is characterized by a weight pad behind the impact area of the club face which progressively increases in height through the set from the long irons to the short irons. In addition, the thickness of the sole portion of each head increases through the set to progressively increase the weight at the bottom of the club heads. The clubs provide improved feel to the golfer which enable the golfer to work the ball more easily during execution of a golf shot.

  • Patent number: 6932387
Abstract: A device is disclosed for adjusting an energy absorbing system of an automobile vehicle steering column mounted in a support assembly which is connected to and attached to the structure of the vehicle by fixing devices each having a respective fixing axis. At least one fixing device includes at least one energy absorbing capsule disposed in the support assembly on a retaining axis and clamped in the support assembly by fastening devices. The fixing axis and the retaining axis coincide. The fastening devices are independent of the fixing devices and include a nut and a rod shoulder in order to allow adjustment to achieve the required clamping of the fastening devices to obtain the required energy absorption. Adjustment of the clamping of the energy absorbing capsule or capsules is therefore independent of the clamping of the devices for fixing the support assembly to the vehicle structure.

  • Patent number: 6927860
Abstract: OCT apparatus includes an interferometer, having an input beam splitter and a 50/50 output splitter. The splitting ratio of the input splitter may be optimized depending on the source power of light source and on the mismatch of the balanced receiver. The input splitter is a plate beam-splitter to minimize the stray reflected light in the interferometer and allow sequential operation of the apparatus in the OCT or in the confocal regime. The switching between the two regimes may be at will, or synchronous with the en-face scanning which results in quasi-simultaneous OCT/confocal imaging or in alternatives frames, confocal and OCT. By using polarization sensitive elements, two channels are provided in each regime, OCT and confocal. The two confocal polarization sensitive channels may allow adjustments of compensators prior to OCT measurements or OCT imaging.

  • Patent number: 6920155
Abstract: A circuit for measuring and compensating for propagation delays in a communication system is described. In communication systems such as wireless networks a number of base stations operate within cells to provide wide area coverage. In such systems a base station controller will communicate with each base station to provide certain information including a synchronizing time stamp. When the distance between the base station controller and each of the individual base stations is not a constant a propagation delay introduced by this distance differential will mean that the time stamp transmitted from the base station controller will not reach all the base stations at the same time. This invention relates to a system and method of measuring respective propagation delays and for introducing a compensating value.

  • Patent number: 6895836
Abstract: A pliers-type handtool includes fixed and movable handle members pivotally connected intermediate their ends, a movable jaw member pivotally connected with the fixed handle member jaw end, and a toggle device connecting the movable jaw member with the movable handle member. A cutting member is mounted for reciprocation within a chamber defined between the fixed handle member and the movable jaw member. When the toggle device is operated from an expanded condition to a collapsed condition, the cutting member is displaced away from the clamping jaws, thereby to remove from the conductor the insulation layer that is severed from the conductor by opposed knife blades carried by the cutting member.

  • Patent number: 6894633
Abstract: An analog-to-digital converter for ultra low power applications, such as pacemakers, has a digitizer for producing a digital output signal from a sampled analog input signal. The digitizer is normally in off state to save current. A sample-and-hold circuit stores a plurality of successive samples of the analog input signal. A control element turns on the digitizer in response to an activation signal, sequentially applies the stored samples to the digitizer in response to the activation signal and thus reconstructs the signal as it existed prior to the activation signal.

  • Patent number: 6893286
Abstract: An electrical connector arrangement includes a resilient contact adapted for direct engagement with the bare wire of an insulated conductor without the use of any assembly tool, characterized in that the resilient contact includes a first leg having a first end containing a window opening, a second leg having a first end extending at an acute angle through the window opening for clamping engagement with a conductor bare wire that is also inserted in the same direction therein, and a connecting portion connecting the other ends of the first and second legs to define a closed loop. A clamping edge at the extremity of the first end of the second resilient contact leg engages the bare wire and cooperates with a first edge of the window opening to prevent the withdrawal of the bare wire from the window opening.
