  • Patent number: 4666520
Abstract: An improvement over the cementitious composite material described in U.S. Pat. No. 4,482,385 consists in replacing the stainless steel particles with graded silicon carbide particles. The resulting material has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion, a greater thermal conductivity and an increased surface abrasion resistance as compared to the material described in the patent and is a lighter weight material. These properties enhance its applicability to certain uses.

  • Patent number: 4627905
Abstract: A monitor assembly is provided herein for monitoring the effectiveness of anodic protection of a carbon steel vessel containing a corrosive liquor, e.g. pulp digesters. The monitor has two identical carbon steel coupons mounted on a mount rod, one coupon being in electrical connection with the anodically protected vessel, the other being out of electrical connection with such vessel. A reference electrode is mounted on the same mount rod in such a way that the reference electrode, but not the mount rod, is wetted by the liquid contents of the carbon steel vessel. In this novel combination of elements, the mount rod, the metal components of a sealing gland and a metal spacer disc are made of any metal with sufficient mechanical and chemical stability to withstand the corrosive environment of the liquid contents of the carbon steel vessel and the mechanical stress.

  • Patent number: 4497144
Abstract: A working tool having a linear working edge is secured to a tool holding arm which is rotatably arranged about a focus shaft extending in parallel with a Z axis and is slidable linearly in parallel with an XY plane. A workpiece is secured to a workpiece mounting member in such a manner that its center axis extends in an X' direction which is inclined by an angle (.pi./2-.theta.) with respect to an X axis. A longitudinal direction of the working edge is inclined by the angle .theta. with respect to a line which is obtained by projecting a sliding direction of the tool holding arm. When the working tool and the workpiece are moved relative to each other, the workpiece is cut into a quadric surface in accordance with a quadric surface formed by the working edge as an envelope of tangents.
