  • Patent number: 5815927
Abstract: A folding knife having a blade pivot connecting a blade to a handle for pivotal movement between an extended position outside of the blade cavity and a retracted position substantially within the blade cavity. A spring biased plunger having a first end and second end opposite the first end is provided, and the first end of the plunger includes a pivotal connector pivotally connecting the plunger to the handle within the blade cavity. The second end of the plunger is pivotally connected to the blade for orbital movement about the blade pivot as the blade moves between the retracted and extended positions. A pivotable locking member is connected to the handle for selectively locking the blade in the extended position. Further, an engagement portion is provided for opening the blade using a downward motion.

  • Patent number: 5797237
Abstract: A snap-together flooring system which fixes adjacent flooring members from lateral movement with respect to one another. A first flooring member includes a channel having a downwardly extending barb. A second flooring member includes an outwardly extending tongue having a groove defined therein. The first and second flooring members are snapped together by moving the tongue into the channel, which causes the barb to ride upwardly on an inclined face of the tongue in an elastic manner, and to ultimately snap downwardly into place within the groove of the tongue. The engagement of the barb in the groove of the tongue prevents laterally removal of the tongue from the channel, and thus holds the adjacent flooring members together.

  • Patent number: 5794747
Abstract: A skid pad has an actuatable drain for use with baggage carrying wet gear. A mesh compartment is provided in the bottom interior of the bag. Slidingly carried in the compartment is a valve member. The mesh compartment is in fluid communication with an opening provided in the bottom of the baggage. A skid pad having a plurality of holes thereon, is provided on the bottom of the bag for covering the opening in the bottom of the bag. When the valve member is removed, fluid may freely drain through the mesh compartment, the opening in the bottom of the bag, and ultimately through the holes provided in the skid pad. Because the holes in the skid pad are in recessed portions, and because of the configuration of the mesh compartment, fluid is allowed to drain from the baggage, but dirt and foreign debris is substantially prohibited from entering into the baggage through the drainage openings.

  • Patent number: 5769094
Abstract: A folding knife having a cantilevered leaf spring member with an engagement tab at the free end thereof. The engagement tab engages with a notch defined in a pivoting blade carrier pivotally connected to the knife handle member. Carried within the blade carrier is an interchangeable blade insert. When the blade is moved to an extended position, it is automatically locked in that position through engagement of the engagement tab with the notch in the blade carrier. Retraction of the blade requires pulling upwardly on ears provided adjacent the engagement tab to remove the engagement tab from the notch, such that the blade can be pivoted into a blade compartment provided in the handle member.

  • Patent number: 5755012
Abstract: Metallic clothing having metallic wire teeth bent at a double angle. The lower portion of each tooth is angled by an first angle with respect to vertical, and the upper portion is angled at a second angle with respect to vertical. The upper portion terminates at the tip, or point, of the tooth. This double-angle tooth profile is angled in the direction opposite to the general direction of travel of fibers being carded. The upper side portion of each tooth is tapered inwardly to the tip, and the rear edge of the upper end of each tooth may be provided with a forward curvature towards the point of the tooth.

  • Patent number: 5752314
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying travelers to a ring of a fiber processing machine. A traveler applicator includes a traveler rail on which travelers are urged by a pusher towards a reciprocating traveler tooth. Actuation of a trigger causes the traveler tooth to engage a traveler from the traveler rail and to advance it outwardly for attachment to a ring. Release of the trigger causes the tooth to retract and allows clearance between the tooth and the next traveler positioned on the traveler rail for dispensing. Upon full retraction of the tooth, the tooth advances inwardly to engage the next traveler on the traveler rail. A spring-biased engagement member contacts the traveler to secure it on the tooth. A cartridge having a plurality of traveler-holding rails about its periphery feeds travelers to the traveler rail. Once a cartridge rail is depleted of travelers, the cartridge is rotated such that the next rail having travelers is presented to the traveler rail for dispensing.

  • Patent number: 5657543
Abstract: An emergency tool for use in breaking glass. The tool includes a handle member having an impact member slidingly carried within a channel therein. A spring is provided for advancing the impact member outwardly from the handle in order to break glass upon the impact member's contact therewith. A trigger lever is provided for compressing the spring and cocking the impact member such that upon activation of the trigger, the impact member advances forward for breaking glass. Also provided is a folding blade extendable from the handle, having a serrated edge for cutting seat belts, and a pry member for prying off objects. A spring actuated locking member is also provided for automatically locking the blade in an extended position.

  • Patent number: 5645685
Abstract: An improved venetian blind having a head rail which carries an elongated rotator member. A first rotator band is connected to the rotator member and to the edges of a plurality of slats carried below the head rail. A second rotator band is connected to the rotator member such that pulling on one portion of the second rotator band causes the rotator member to rotate in one direction, which in turn causes the rotator band to tilt the slats in a first direction, and pulling on a second portion of the second rotator band causes a reverse rotation of the rotator member, to thereby cause the slats to be tilted in an opposite direction. The rotator band passes through a handle, and the handle includes a tilt member connected to the rotator band for allowing selectively tilting the slats through movement of the tilt member.

  • Patent number: 5572793
Abstract: A locking knife and sheath combination having a knife of unitary construction. A flexible engagement tab is provided on the handle of the knife for engaging with a tab receiving opening provided in a front portion of the sheath. Upon engagement of the tab with such opening, the knife is securely retained in the sheath. Removal of the knife from the sheath is accomplished by depression of the tab through the tab opening of the sheath. Sheath clamping means are also provided on the opposite side of the sheath and include a clamping arm which pivots with respect to the rearward surface of the sheath through means of rotation of a thumbwheel adjustment member. Rotation of the adjustment member allows for the clamping arm to selectively clamp the sheath to an article. A clamping device is provided for a folding knife having a thumbwheel adjustment member.
