  • Patent number: 7372831
Abstract: Transmitting an acknowledgement/negative acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) signal in association with a packet transmitted on an uplink is disclosed. The method includes the steps of receiving a packet transmitted from a user equipment, decoding the packet, and determining whether the packet has been successfully decoded, transmitting an ACK signal or a NACK signal, based on the decoding result. Different transmission powers are allocated for the ACK signal and the NACK signal. Alternatively, the transmission power for the NACK signal selectively has an OFF level. The present invention optimizes the transmission powers for downlink ACK/NACK signals in accordance with the required reception quality of each of the ACK/NACK signals, and thus, enables the system to operate efficiently.

  • Patent number: 7369866
Abstract: Message processing for a communication terminal is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for preparing an outgoing message includes composing the message, programming control information for performing a word spacing function, and associating the outgoing message with the control information. The control information may preferably assert whether to insert spaces between words of the outgoing message. In another embodiment, a method for processing a message includes receiving an incoming message and incoming control information for performing the word spacing function, and arranging the incoming message based on the incoming control information. An unspaced message may be sent, allowing the sending to include more letters, numbers, symbols, or other ‘non-space characters’ in the message. Furthermore, because the message is sent with the control information, the message may be arranged and displayed in spaced-wording format, allowing for easier reading by the message recipient.

  • Patent number: 7366396
Abstract: The present invention relates to multi-channel stream recording/reproducing method and apparatus. The present multi-channel stream reproducing method checks whether or not reproduced multi-channel stream belongs to same broadcast (RF) channel, and deletes PSI (Program Specific Information) packets included in channel stream excluding one channel stream if it belongs to same RF channel, and makes new PSI packets with reference to PSI packets included in reproduced multi-channel stream to replace them, if not. Furthermore, the present method compensates appropriately PCRs (Program Clock References) included in channel stream excluding one channel stream in case of the latter. The present method enables a digital TV set to present multi-channel stream simultaneously in PIP (Picture-In-Picture) or multi-screen mode with no error in channel selection and presentation (or decoding) time.

  • Patent number: 7363047
Abstract: A method and apparatus for establishing feedback channels in an MBMS (multimedia broadcast/multicast service) for UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) by selectively establishing RRC connections with terminals that are capable of transmitting uplink feedback information regarding the particular MBMS service. When requesting an RRC connection, a terminal sends an RRC connection message including information related to MBMS and the UTRAN selectively establishes an RRC connection with the terminal based on the information related to MBMS. The terminal indicates whether both a point-to-multipoint radio bearer and a point-to-point radio bearer can be received and, optionally, provides terminal class information in the RRC connection request message.
