  • Patent number: 4134703
Abstract: This invention relates to a locking structure for a pair of extensible or telescopic poles in which one of the poles has an upstanding bolt secured therein, carried on the bolt are a pair of frusto conical members having their tapered portions in facing engagement and being moveable along of the bolt, disposed between said frusto conical members is a split ring having angled or beveled inner surfaces corresponding to the adjacent tapered faces of said frusto conical members and an expandible nut threaded onto said bolt having a body portion compressible to have a pressure fit within the other of the poles and a locking washer holding the same onto said bolt whereby the rotation of pole in which the expanding member is disposed will move said expanding member downwardly of said bolt causing the frusto conical members to move toward each other thereby expanding the split ring therebetween causing the split ring to move outwardly into locking engagement with the adjacent wall surface of the first mentioned pole.

  • Patent number: 4107655
Abstract: A code operated device which includes a multiplicity of coded electrical circuits to which it provides access and is mechanically operated by coded keys which respectively correspond to each of the circuits for access to a corresponding circuit. This device includes cylindrical tumblers having their edges coded by an arrangement of reflective spots, the edge coding being arranged by the relative rotation of each tumbler by the coded keys, the edge coding is read by a reflective spot readout unit and the code read is transmitted to an addressing box which in turn matches the code read to a corresponding circuit. The circuits representing the various combinations of the code used are in a conventional arrangement in circuit with said readout units by the use of a printed circuit board.

  • Patent number: 4096665
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in a weather seal between a sash and an adjacent side of a window frame and more particularly relates to a weather seal which increases in sealing effect under the impact of wind pressure and consists of a jamb strip having a portion projecting outwardly of the side of a window frame alongside the adjacent side rail of a sash and a flexible weather strip is carried by said projection angled across the juncture of the side of the window frame and sash rail, the strip being positioned to be drawn against the jamb and sash rail, and the strip being pressed further thereagainst for increased sealing effect under the impact of wind pressure. The strip permits free movement of the sash without lessening its sealing effect.

  • Patent number: 4097256
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in an apparatus attached to an air cleaner such as of an internal combustion engine as in connection with a farm tractor wherein the contaminants drawn into the air cleaner are evacuated to the atmosphere therefrom by said apparatus wherein the improvement consists in having the apparatus continuously operative, providing a positive evacuation of contaminants and comprising a relatively small sized motor driving an impeller which receives contaminants from the air cleaner and evacuates or expells the same and embodies the use of a plurality of vanes whereby the engine associated with the air cleaner is prevented from drawing a reverse flow of air through the exhaust passage of the apparatus and the vanes serve as closure means whereby there is no open passage through the apparatus to the cleaner and thus only a low powered impeller is required to expel the comtaminants received.

  • Patent number: 4060436
Abstract: This invention relates to a garment pattern and more particularly to the markings thereon. It is a common practice to use pins or tailor tacks to place markings on the material underlying a garment pattern corresponding with specified markings on the pattern such as the matching points of the pattern and to indicate darts, pleats, button hole locations and the like. Pins damage the pattern and are time consuming to make. The improvement herein consists of using small self-adhesive marking members of different configurations to indicate markings on the pattern and to be positioned onto the material through appropriate apertures or openings formed in the pattern. These marking members are readily applied and removed and vary in configuration so that corresponding marking members are readily matched up in assembling the material to form a garment.
