  • Patent number: 8100618
Abstract: A full-round head nail having an offset head is configured with a gusset formed integrally between an undersurface of the offset head and a superior portion of a shank. The head of the nail is relatively thin, and the shank is positioned radially off center of the round head such that no heel is formed at a point tangential to both the head and the shank. The gusset has a lofted surface tapering radially from a roundness at the zero heel to a taper at the toe. The gusset reinforces the junction of the shank with the head, supports the toe of the head, and distributes the force of a load on the head through a longitudinal axis of the shank, preventing the toe from bending or yielding and prevents the shank from yielding to the stresses of the load applied.

  • Patent number: 8100516
Abstract: A device and method for storing pressure-regulated fluid for a printer is disclosed. The pistonless, pressure-regulated storage device for fluid has three main components: a sealing cap, a mounting base, and a flexible membrane positioned between the sealing cap and the mounting base. The sealing cap has an inlet and an outlet for fluid flow. A pressure sensing device is positioned to monitor the pressure in the fluid storage device. The mounting base has a chamber formed therein and the membrane is positioned over the chamber. The membrane is flexible and configured to conform to the shape of the chamber when the membrane retains fluid, such as ink, from a reservoir. The membrane accumulates fluid until a pressure sensor alerts the pump that the maximum capacity has been reached. When pressure within the storage device falls, such as when downstream demand for ink begins or increases, the pump is signaled to begin filling the storage device.

  • Patent number: 8093561
Abstract: Disclosed is a thyroid uptake measurement apparatus, in which a radiation attenuation filter is detachably provided at the leading end of a collimator of a radiation detector. The radiation attenuation filter inhibits the saturation of signals when gamma rays exceeding the maximum counting rate are entered. Accordingly, it is possible to inhibit the distortion of signals when the pile-up of the signals increases by an increase in the radiation decay. Moreover, the use of the radiation attenuation filter can significantly improve the scatter fraction, that is, the ratio of scattered radiation/total radiation generated by material scatter of radiation.

  • Patent number: 8038000
Abstract: A hydrogen peroxide point of use wetted wiper system includes a packaging with a first, a second, and a third compartment, wherein the separate compartments are mergable. Wipers are disposed in the third compartment. Disposed in the second compartment is dry urea hydrogen peroxide, isolated from the wipers. Disposed in the first compartment is a solvent, wherein the solvent is isolated from the wipers and the urea hydrogen peroxide. The first and second compartments can merge to form a unified compartment such that the solvent is combined with the urea hydrogen peroxide at a point of use to form liquid 6% hydrogen peroxide solution. The unified compartment then merges with the third compartment such that the liquid hydrogen peroxide wets the wipers. The liquid hydrogen peroxide concentration and amount is proportional to the wiper absorptive capacity, number, size, and degree of desired saturation.

  • Patent number: 8033005
Abstract: A method for making a collated fastener assembly includes the steps of arranging a plurality of fasteners each having a head and a tip, in a row parallel to one another, the fasteners being arranged in a plane. The plurality of fasteners are preheated to elevate the temperature of the fasteners and a molten polymer material is applied onto the preheated plurality of fasteners. The fasteners, maintained in the plane, are conveyed with the molten polymer thereon between a pair of forming wheels. The molten polymer material is molded onto the preheated fasteners and between adjacent fasteners to form a plastic molding having a collar encircling a shank of each fastener and a connecting portion between adjacent fasteners. A cooling vapor is sprayed onto the fasteners and the plastic molding as the fasteners and the plastic molding exit from between the molding wheels. A gaseous cooling stream is forced over the fasteners and the plastic molding to cool the strip to form the fastener assembly.
