  • Patent number: 4588301
Abstract: The conical screw mixer has a mixing vessel tapering toward the bottom region; in it, parallel to the inner wall, a rotationally driven mixing screw runs in the product chamber. At the bottom area a non-rotational compensating coupling is arranged, which is provided outside the product chamber and below the mixing vessel. The seal between the rotating part of the angularly movable coupling and the product chamber is below the mixing vessel. The seal between the rotating part of the angularly movable coupling and the product chamber is effected by the rotating part being sealingly connected with a sealing bell, and external sealing surfaces of the sealing bell, and external sealing surfaces of the sealing bell roll off on a fixed gasket flange.

  • Patent number: 4583957
Abstract: The pneumatically-operated robotic toy includes an internal bellows or air pump which forces pressurized air to flow from the internal air pump or bellows through passageways into hollow arms of the robot. Inasmuch as the arms of the robot include bellows, this flow of air causes the arms to move from an open to a closed position, or vice versa. Air pressure holding joints are provided to permit several degrees of freedom of movement. Alternatively, the internal bellows may be positioned in the head of the robot, and movement of the head will cause the arms to move up and down. A flexible rotatable suction cup base may be provided. A second internal bellows may be provided, either in the torso or in the head, for activation of the suction cup base of the robotic toy.

  • Patent number: 4581115
Abstract: In electrolysis installations which possess in a common tank a plurality of anode and cathode plates electrically connected one behind the other, uniform supply to or flow through the individual cells is of greatest importance. According to the invention, the inflow, but also if possible the outflow, is placed below the liquid level, and a distributor pocket for uniform distribution of the liquid is connected between the inflow or outflow of the liquid and its entrance or exit from the electrolytic tank, respectively. For optimum adjustment of the chemical and physical constitution of the liquid, flow-independent measuring and adjusting of the liquid is achieved by a sensor which is arranged in a by-pass to the cycle line of the etching fluid between the etching tank and the electrolytic cell.

  • Patent number: 4566324
Abstract: A method for determination of rheological characteristics of polymer and disperse systems, comprising the steps of placing a system to be investigated into a gap between two coaxial cylinders, the first cylinder being rigidly secured on the case of the device, while the second cylinder is rigidly connected to an output shaft of a servo drive, subjecting the system to mechanical deformation by tangentially displacing one of the cylinders in relation to the other conditioned by the restricted shear flow of the system, and exposing the system to an electrical field produced in the gap by connecting a voltage source to the external cylinder provided with butt ends transparent for radiation. The specified deformation and double refraction of the system are measured to determine thereby the rheological characteristics of the system being investigated.

  • Patent number: 4567207
Abstract: A polymeric material comprising a solid dispersion of a porous three-dimensional polymer with a pore diameter of 0.002 to 10 .mu.m and a permeability coefficient of from 2.times.10.sup.-7 to 2.times.10.sup.31 2 cm.multidot.sec.sup.-1. This material is produced by reacting formaldehyde with at least one monomer capable of forming, with formaldehyde, a polymer of a three-dimensional structure. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a polymerization catalyst in an aqueous medium at a pH of from 0.1 to 4, while maintaining the polymer concentration within the range of from 20 to 65% by mass. Thereafter the solution with the polymer is maintained for a period sufficient to form a porous polymer in the form a solid dispersion.

  • Patent number: 4564248
Abstract: A pull-out guide for drawers consists of two 2 frame sides, U-shaped guide rails and Z-shaped pull-out rails movable therein, both the guide and pull-out rails being provided with a roller each, and the lower guide legs of the U-shaped guide rails having in their end areas run-in slopes adjoined by run-in stops each, and the front end areas of the upper pull-out rail legs, serving as rolling surfaces for the rollers, having a run-in slope each oriented in the same direction and preferably parallel to the run-in slope in the end area of the guide rail on the frame side. This improves the pull-in and staying closed behavior when drawers of little net weight and small load capacity are involved. Because the legs of both rail pairs of the pull-out guide run parallel, the front blind is approximately jointlessly flush with the frame.

  • Patent number: 4560360
Abstract: An inflatable assembly formed of two superimposed sheets sealed at the peripheries thereof to form a generally closed gas receiving compartment including opposing sheet portions having generally aligned initially unsealed edges which form an opening for receiving a gas conduit during inflation. Adhesive or a double-sided adhesive strip is provided on one of the sheet portions facing the other sheet portion. Premature adhesion between the sheet portion is prevented by a removable protective strip disposed between the adhesive surface and the facing sheet portion. After inflation and removal of the gas conduit and the protective strip, application of pressure to the sheet portions seals the opening to prevent escape of gas therethrough.

  • Patent number: 4553886
Abstract: A spindle headstock of a multiple-operation machine tool, whose housing accommodates, in a coaxial and rotatable arrangement, a spindle kinematically coupled to a rotary drive, a tie rod carrying members intended for connection to the shank of a boring head having a swivel carriage, which tie rod is axially adjustable in relation to the spindle, and a bar carrying toothed members for meshing with toothed members mounted on an end of a slide bar whose opposite end serves for radial displacement of the carriage. The bar is kinematically coupled to a drive whereby it is displaced in the axial direction in relation to the spindle. The members of the tie rod, which serve for connection to the shank of the boring head, are mounted on the tie rod so that they can radially reciprocate during location of the tie rod. For radial adjustment of the bar, a bushing is provided on the tie rod, which is axially stationary in relation to the tie rod and kinematically coupled to the spindle and bar.
