Abstract: Methods and kits for performing a ligand/anti-ligand assay are described. The ligand/anti-ligand assay comprises: (1) simultaneously carrying out the extraction of a ligand from a sample of cells or cells and reaction of the ligand with at least two anti-ligands therefor to form a detectable reaction product, and (2) detecting the reaction product.
Abstract: An azo compound with the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen atom, lower alkyl group, lower alkoxy group, halogen atom and cyano group;Y is phenylene or naphthylene group;Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 are independently the divalent group represented by the following formula: ##STR2## wherein A is a divalent group derived from the aromatic hydrocarbon or heterocyclic compound including one or more nitrogen atoms in the ring; andn is 1 or 2,is disclosed. Such compounds are useful in forming a photosensitive layer of an electrophotographic photoreceptor.
Abstract: This invention relates to devices and to methods, diagnostic reagents and kits embodying such devices for use in ligand/anti-ligand assays and the qualitative or semi-quantitative detection of a substance of interest thereby through use of light or photon detecting systems such as reflectometers, colorimeters, fluorimeters and the human eye. Such devices, methods and kits have applications in the biologic research and medical fileds for assaying drugs, hormones, peptides, proteins, enzymes, nucleic acids, antibodies, haptens, antibiotics, viri, infectious agents, tumor markers and the like, in the laboratory, the physicians' office, the veterinarian's office and the home.
Abstract: A dual layer photoreceptor for use in electrophotography, wherein a charge transport layer containing a hydrazone compound and a binder polymer is laminated on a charge generation layer containing a titanium phthalocyanine compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X represents hydrogen atom, lower alkyl group, lower alkoxy group, allyloxy group, nitro group, cyano group, hydroxy group, benzyloxy group or halogen atom, Y represents halogen atom, alkoxy group or oxygen atom, n represents an integer of 1 or 2 and m represents an integer of 0 to 4, and a binder polymer, formed on an electroconductive substrate.
Abstract: A stable human .gamma.-interferon composition is produced by adding dextran and/or hydroxyethylstarch to an aqueous human .gamma.-interferon solution freezing the resulting solution and, if desired, drying the resulting frozen solution under reduced pressure.
Abstract: Monomeric human .gamma.-interferon is efficiently produced by subjecting crude human .gamma.-interferon to gel filtration in the presence of a reducing sulfur compound and a protein-denaturing agent.
Abstract: A sparger useful for introducing gas into a liquid is composed of one or more gas-permeable members positioned between a gas inlet means and a gas distribution means. A method and apparatus for culturing cells, eukaryotic cells and hybridomas in particular, wherein circulation of a liquid medium contained in the apparatus is achieved by gas introduced into the liquid medium by means of the aforementioned sparger.
