Patent number: 6052969Abstract: An apparatus and method for stacking and loading disc-like objects into receptacles is provided. The apparatus includes a lane combining conveyor which receives multiple lanes of product and combines one or more of the outer lanes into the remaining lanes. A stack former is provided for forming individual stacks of patties which are side supported onto rails. The rails can be pivoted down to divert patties for clearing jams. After the product is formed on the stack formers, a stack transfer mechanism transfers the stacks of products formed on the stack forming rails to the matrix former. Matrix former receives individual rows of multiple stacks from the stack transfer mechanism. A stripper mechanism is used to ensure that the stacks are not scrambled during this transfer. Once the matrix former is filled with product, a case rollover mechanism is rotated to the matrix former.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1998Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Assignee: F. R. Patent number: 6049962Abstract: In a process, a pipe (1) is connected to a press fitting (2) which has a cylindrical section (3) and a radially outward-projecting annular bead (5) at each end which, at the free end of the press fitting (2) has an inwardly directed bead shoulder (8) and internally forms an annular groove (10) in which is fitted a sealing ring (11). In order to make the connection, the press fitting (2) and the pipe (1) are inserted one into the other and the annular bead (5) and the cylindrical section (3) are pressed radially inwards with the plastic deformation of the pipe (1) as well. This is done by pressing the bead shoulder (8) into the pipe (1) to form a first narrowing (44), and a second narrowing (43) is formed in the pipe by pressing the cylindrical section (3) at a distance from the first narrowing (44) such that the shaping of the second narrowing (43) is separated from the first (44) In such a way that the first narrowing (44) has a radially outwardly projecting section (47) towards the second.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 1998Date of Patent: April 18, 2000Assignee: Novopress GmbH Pressen und Presswerkzeuge & Co., KGInventor: Heinrich Pfeiffer

Patent number: 6039237Abstract: A heating tip in which an insertion cavity is formed in a tip substrate made of copper or copper alloy for insertion and containment of a heat generating portion, wherein the inner circumferential wall surface of the insertion cavity is formed by forging into a non-circular cross sectional shape which is identical with a non-circular cross sectional shape on the outer circumferential surface of the heat generating portion. The insertion cavity has the non-circular cross sectional shape and, accordingly, the area of contact with the heat generating portion is enlarged compared with a case of a circular cross sectional shape with the hole volume being assumed identical, thereby increasing the heat conductivity from the heat generating portion and enhancing the temperature rising characteristics and the thermal response of the heating tip. Since the insertion cavity is formed by forging loss of the material can be decreased, neatly and easily and, in addition, working life of the tool can be extended.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 1998Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Assignee: Nakajima Cooper Works, IncInventors: Masahiko Nakajima, Naoyuki Yamasawa, Masaru Nakamura

Patent number: 6017473Abstract: A porous, flow-through molded body, designed specifically for use in the removal of diesel soot particles from the exhaust gas of diesel engines. It includes a reciprocally closed honeycombed body made of silicon carbide and possessing the following features.wall thickness: 1.25.+-.0.5 mm;porosity: 55 to 60%;average pore diameter: 25 to 70 .mu.m;specific permeability: 20 to 100 nPm.In the production method, a starting powder of silicon or a mixture of silicon with portions of silicon carbide and/or carbon is combined with an organic binding agent that can be coked and molded into a green body. This is then subjected to a coking fire in an inert-gas atmosphere; the molded body obtained in this manner is then heated in the presence of nitrogen or a nitrogenous inert gas to a temperature where free silicon is converted with the carbon, in a reaction firing, to silicon carbide. Additionally, a recrystallization firing at greater than 2000.degree. Patent number: 6017583Abstract: In a process for the manufacture of a strip material (1) a plastics layer (5, 6) is formed at least on one side of a support (2) from a mixture of plastics materials and particulate soluble corpuscles wherein the soluble corpuscles are leachable by a solvent of a type against which the plastics material is stable. Thereafter the soluble corpuscles are leached out from the plastics layer (5, 6) with the formation of throughflow passages. According to the invention, a plastics powder is prepared as the plastics material, which is mixed with the soluble corpuscles and applied onto the support (2). By heat and pressure treatment a plastics layer (5, 6) including therein the soluble particles, is produced from the mixture of plastics powder and soluble corpuscles, prior to the soluble corpuscles being leached at least in part out of the plastics layer (5, 6).Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1997Date of Patent: January 25, 2000Assignee: Conrad Munzinger & Cie AGInventor: Michael Gass
