  • Patent number: 6709612
Abstract: To produce a reformed medium density fiber (MDF) product, a reforming process is performed on a pre-finished MDF board having at least one pre-finished surface which, in turn, carries at least one coating. The process comprises the steps of: placing the pre-finished medium density fiber board in a heated press mold; closing the heated press mold while the pre-finished medium density fiber board is located therein; applying pressure and heat to the pre-finished medium density fiber board using the heated press mold so that the pre-finished surface(s) is (are) reformed without cracking, bubbling, or removal of the coating(s); opening the heated press mold; and removing the pre-finished medium density fiber board from the heated press mold. The application of pressure and heat preferably is such that the board becomes reformed, preferably no greater than 0.045 inch into the board.

  • Patent number: 6689301
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a door skin includes the steps of providing a wood composite flat blank. The blank is placed between the platens of a heated press, the platens being heated to a temperature sufficient to soften the resins in the blank and to thereby soften the blank. Sufficient pressure is applied to close the platens and thereafter the pressure is cyclically applied to increased pressure levels for thereby causing the blank to be deformed into a molded shape determined by the configuration of the platens. The molded blank is then removed from between the platens.

  • Patent number: 6679033
Abstract: A packing method and system are disclosed which system includes a first platform having a product support surface for supporting a product and a second platform for supporting a box into which the product is to be packed. After a box is received on and secured to the second platform, the second platform is rotated so that the open top of the box faces the first platform and moved toward the first platform until the box substantially surrounds the product on the product support surface. The first and second platforms are then rotated simultaneously so that the product is transferred from the product support to the box, and the full box is discharged to a discharge conveyor.

  • Patent number: 6670561
Abstract: Digitizer pointer position data corresponds to the absolute coordinates of a digitizer tablet having coordinate axes, and so when a user wishes to use a digitizer pointer like a mouse, different procedures are imposed on the user, sometimes requiring unnatural hand movements. A psuedomouse coordinate input method consists of providing a digitizer or coordinate input system having a coordinates indicator (e.g., a puck) for manipulation by a user, a tablet which detects the position of the coordinates indicator, and a host computer connected to the tablet to receive the output of the tablet. When the user grasps and moves the coordinates indicator, a coordinate information detecting step occurs which causes the coordinates indicator's position to be detected by the tablet, and the tablet then generates coordinate information data including coordinate values of the coordinates indicator on the tablet before and after its movement or displacement.

  • Patent number: 6666461
Abstract: A clamping chuck has a chuck body made of a dimensionally stable material, on which is provided a clamping sleeve that forms a central receptacle for a workpiece or tool that is to be clamped, and has a clamping mechanism for immobilizing in the receptacle the component that is to be clamped, while elastically deforming the clamping sleeve. There is configured in the chuck body an annular groove which surrounds the receptacle to form the clamping sleeve and is open toward the end face of the chuck body. The clamping mechanism includes a wedge ring that has a ring body and multiple clamping tongues arranged thereon, spaced apart from one another in the circumferential direction, and projecting substantially axially. The wedge ring possesses a cross section tapering in a wedge shape toward the free end, and it can be pressed axially into the annular groove while radially deforming the clamping sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6631543
Abstract: A method for creating a releasable joint between two components wherein one of the components is elastically deformed by radial compressive forces in such a way that one effective circumferential contour corresponds to the corresponding effective circumferential contour of the other component with a predefined clearance, and the two components are fitted together. After being fitted together, a compressive joint is created by the fact that the deformed component is elastically deformed back by reducing or discontinuing the radial compressive forces. What is used as the elastically deformable component is a hollow body which has multiple cavities in its wall, and the radial compressive forces are exerted on the inner or outer contour of the hollow body located opposite the effective circumferential contour in such a way that their working lines, considered in the circumferential direction, run approximately centeredly through the cavities.
