  • Patent number: 5228025
Abstract: A method for the broadcasting of digital data, in channels to which multiple paths are assigned, the characteristics of which vary in time, with time-frequency interlacing and assistance in the acquisition of the automatic frequency control. This method is one of the type providing for the distribution of the data in the form of digital elements in the frequency-time space f-t and the transmission of frames of symbols each constituted by a multiplex of N orthogonal carrier frequencies modulated by a set of the digital elements and broadcast simultaneously, the method providing for the transmission of a pattern of frequency synchronization, recurrent in time. It can be applied notably for radio broadcasting at a high bit rate towards mobile receivers, and for example, to COFDM radio broadcasting.

  • Patent number: 5217610
Abstract: An apparatus is described for removing metal particles from a liquid by means of a bag filter containing a plurality of magnets in linearly elongated interior pockets. A liquid containing metal particles passes from the interior of the bag filter through its exterior. • Patent number: 5205240
Abstract: A method for the preparation and distribution of feed for animals, especially suitable for feeding piglets, includes a first step of preparing in a mixer a predetermined volume of a feed mixture of dry feed and diluting liquid. In a second step the feed mixture is distributed to the trough of each of the stalls, a volume of the mixture prepared in first step which varies according to the final volume of feed to be prepared for each trough. The third step requires diluting in each trough the feed mixture distributed in second step with a dilution liquid in order to obtain in each trough the final volume of feed with a predetermined concentration for each trough. The dilution of the third step is done by distributing the dilution liquid through the same conduits as that by which the mixture prepared in first step has been distributed to ensure cleaning of these conduits.

  • Patent number: 5205434
Abstract: A blow-molded container of thermoplastic resin has a hollow body with a generally cylindrical side wall portion rotationally symmetric about a longitudinal axis of the container. A shoulder portion integrally joins the side wall portion to a finish. An integral base merging with the side wall portion is defined by an outer surface comprising a plurality of downward projections separated from each other by generally arcuate segments extending essentially from the cylindrical side wall to the longitudinal axis of the container. The bottom of the container includes a web extending between a central portion adjacent the longitudinal axis of the container and a generally perpendicular ring segment in each of the downward projections for providing enhanced stability against deflection during entry of the filling liquid into the container which aids in the prevention of bottom failure from stress cracking associated with the rigors of the filling procedure.

  • Patent number: 5161001
Abstract: Disclosed is a method to achieve a sub-sampling of pictures, making it possible to optimize the spatial and temporal definition of the compressed signal, so as to enable a most faithful possible reconstruction of the picture received with said compressed picture signal and, if necessary, with complementary assistance data. A field of speed vectors is defined for at least each picture to be sub-sampled, and said pictures to be sub-sampled are sub-sampled by eliminating certain picture points, the preserved picture points being chosen so as to avoid selecting a picture point which corresponds spatially to the approximate projection of a source point preserved during the sub-sampling of the preceding sub-sampling picture, said projection resulting from the application, to said source point, of the associated shift vector.

  • Patent number: 5114327
Abstract: Rapid cooling of molded workpieces formed in an injection molding machine such as PET parisons is provided by a receiver receiving molded workpieces upon ejection from the molding machine, the receiver being transported out of the molding machine to an adjacent position where a cooling head coupled to a source of cooling fluid such as liquid CO.sub.2 directs the fluid toward the surfaces of each workpiece. The cooling head engages and is sealed to the receiver to inhibit the escape of cooling fluid into the atmosphere thereby reducing cost, environmental impact, etc. A sensor coupled to a control of the cooling fluid source permits the release of cooling fluid from said source to contact the workpieces only when the cooling head is engaged with and sealed to the receiver. A vacuum unit withdraws cooling fluid from the receiver subsequent to contact between the workpieces and the cooling fluid. The cooling fluid is then recooled and recycled for reuse.

Abstract: Joining member for joining an adjacent pair of plates on a side of a cargo carrier are formed by a rectilinear strip having an inner surface including a pair of flanges positioned between two rows of aperatures straddling a channel of uniform depth. A sealing strip fixed in said channel having a width about equal to the distance between said pair of flanges, a length equal to the rectilinear strip length, and a thickness greater than the channel depth seals the line of adjacency between the pair of plates. Alternatively, an inner strip including openings alligned with said channel for receiving logistics fittings is employed where the plates are spaced apart to permit the channel defining flanges to project between the plates.
