  • Patent number: 5092202
Abstract: Apparatus for securing hard material tips to the teeth of a cutter tool includes a carrier unit for presenting an end of a rod of the tip forming material to a tooth to be tipped, a spring for exerting pressure between the tip forming material and the tooth to be tipped during a welding operation such that the end can be welded to the tooth with the tip forming length positioned with respect to the tooth at substantially the rake angle for the tip. Following the welding operation the rod or bar is severed from the end thereof attached to the blade tooth in such manner that the cut surface defines the top face of the tip.The carrier unit brings the lower end of the bar into contact with the tooth that is located at the welding station to hold the lower end in place during the welding operation.

  • Patent number: 5066066
Abstract: Joining member for joining an adjacent pair of plates on a side of a cargo carrier are formed by a rectilinear strip having an inner surface including a pair of flanges positioned between two rows of aperatures straddling a channel of uniform depth. A sealing strip fixed in the channel having a width about equal to the distance between said pair of flanges, a length equal to the rectilinear strip length, and a thickness greater than the channel depth seals the line of adjacency between the pair of plates. Alternatively, an inner strip including openings aligned with the channel for receiving logistics fittings is employed where the plates are spaced apart to permit the channel defining flanges to project between the plates.

  • Patent number: 5063782
Abstract: An accelerometer unit characterized by first and second piezo-electric elements (5, 6) mounted upon opposed surfaces of an electrically conductive sheet, plate or the like (1), and in that the sheet, plate or the like is adapted to be centrally supportable by support (12) such that the first and second piezo-electric elements are subjectable to similar forces upon subjecting the piezo-electric elements to acceleration forces. The elements (5, 6) are connected electrically in parallel so that the effects of one piezo-electric element are caused to negate electrical output arising from pyroelectric effects of the other piezeo-electric element. A combined band pass filter and amplification circuit in which at least a part of the capacitance (37) of the initial high frequency pass filter of the circuit is provided by the capacitance of the piezo-electric elements.

  • Patent number: 5043011
Abstract: A process for producing pig-iron is described involving the use of a reduction shaft furnace 1 and a melt-down gasifier 2. The sponge iron produced from iron ore in the reduction shaft furnace is fed into the melt-down gasifier and converted into a pig-iron melt. The gas produced in the melt-down gasifier is passed as reducing gas into the reduction shaft furnace both via a cyclone separator 11 and a line 12 and directly via a line 13. The top gas leaving the reduction shaft furnace, after passing through a scrubber 4, is largely returned via a CO.sub.2 scrubber 6, in which CO.sub.2 and H.sub.2 O are removed from the top gas, in such a way that it can be used for forming the reducing gas in the melt-down gasifier and also as a cooling gas for the reducing gas produced in said gasifier.

  • Patent number: 5038306
Abstract: An electronic controller unit particularly intended for use with intelligent suspension systems for motor vehicles incorporates a microprocessor for enabling operational calibration of each of a plurality of transducers associated therewith in such a manner as to take into account zero output level influencing factors to establish a compound calibration relationship for each transducer. A non-volatile memory stores each such calibration relationship and the microprocessor compares the instantaneous output of each transducer with its stored associated calibration relationship value for the ambient temperature prevailing at the time of the instantaneous output to produce a temperature corrected output value for each transducer.

  • Patent number: 5031687
Abstract: A device is described for straightening a curved steel strand cast continuously by means of a casting wheel machine or a curved mold continuously casting machine. The strand is passed between straightening points with rolls, such as straightening, bending, guide, counter rolls and/or corresponding roll pairs, in accordance with a certain physical law, whereby at least two roll pairs applying bending moments to the strand are provided. The first roll pair is at the same time the roll pair located in the direction of travel of the strand directly downstream of the point of emergence of the strand from the casting machine or is formed by the casting wheel (of the curved mold) itself and a corresponding straightening roll. The second roll pair determines transition of the strand from a finite radius or curvature to a straight line (infinite radius of curvature) at the end of the bending zone. Between these two roll pairs other rolls can be located exclusively along the outside of the strand.
