  • Patent number: 5911478
Abstract: A sling chair with a removable sling designed to provide a simple unitary method to remove the sling material for aesthetic and/or maintenance purposes without the use of screws, bolts or hardware in general. The sling chair includes a chair frame with sling rails, including inner and outer channels, a removably attachable sling, and sling fasteners for securing the sling into the sling rails of the chair frame. The removable sling has opposite sling edges having lengthwise extending loops formed therein. A flexible sling rod extends throughout the entire length of the loops. The sling rod is smaller than the inner channels contained within the sling rails to allow insertion of the sling rod into the inner channels thereby removably attaching the sling to the sling rails forming the seatrest and backrest of the chair.

  • Patent number: 5884881
Abstract: A leaning support structure that is lightweight, expandable by a single hand and has a sturdy base without the need for insertion into the ground. The leaning support structure includes first and second elongated support members offset from each other, each support member having upper and lower ends and a predetermined connecting point. A handle may be placed on the upper end of the first elongated support member to cover the offset portion between the first and the second elongated support members, improving the feel and the aesthetic appearance. At the predetermined connecting points, a connector connects the elongated support members. A groove and a female securing portion are located in the upper half of the first elongated support member. A rod, which fits into the groove to limit the relative angle between the elongated support members, and a male securing portion are located in the upper half of the second elongated support member.

  • Patent number: 5852856
Abstract: An anti theft ink tag designed to permanently render an article useless if unauthorized removal of the tag is attempted. The anti theft ink tag includes ampules containing a permanent staining substance. The ampules are supported in a base component with holes that allow the staining substance to escape if the ampules are fractured. A cover component with a break away element covers the base component. Permanently attached to the break away element is an elongated pin type connecting unit that is used to attach the tag to the article being protected, and locked into place by a locking mechanism. When an unauthorized removal of the tag is attempted, the break away element fractures the ampules and also exposes the outside of the cover component to the staining substance.

  • Patent number: 5841689
Abstract: A composition of materials (record carrier) with ferromagnetic and quantum-optical properties has been discovered, which can be used as an environment for accumulation with high-density recording of discrete information. In the preferred version, the composition of materials of record carrier (100,110,120,140,160,170 and 180) comprises a first amorphous layer of Ni.sub.(1-x-y) Fe.sub.x Mo.sub.y, a second polycrystalline layer of Co.sub.(1-z-w) Nb.sub.z V.sub.w, and a third polycrystalline layer of Co.sub.(1-j) Nb.sub.j, where x, y, z, w and j are values preferably within the ranges of 0.11<x<0.13; 0.075<y<0.085; 0.145<z<0.155; 0.095<w<0.105. Additionally, the layers also contain the following elements: Si, O, Ar, N, I. A random-access, non-volatile memory cell built using the invented composition of materials (record carrier) has also been discovered and a new non-volatile memory cell has been discovered, where, while information is read, a magnetic quantum-optical effect is used.

  • Patent number: 5764381
Abstract: An internal drum recorder images a media to a radiation pattern using an image array, which extends along a primary track, such as a helical track, and in a direction essentially perpendicular to the primary track. In one embodiment, the source of radiation is a laser aimed along the longitudinal axis of the drum, deflected and applied through a light modifier within a spinner. The light modifier is a device breaking the single laser beam into a number of sub-beams. Alternately, a number of laser diodes rotating within a translatable spinner may be used to produce the image. A gripper bar rotating about the longitudinal axis of the drum facilitates introducing and removing new sheets into the drum. A focus detector rotating within the spinneris used to correct the radial distance to the media surface from the spinner.

  • Patent number: 5755270
Abstract: This invention relates to a strong, light weight accordion shutter system that increases strength while decreasing weight, and is especially resistant to hurricane force winds and flying objects when used to cover doors, windows or openings. More specifically, this invention relates to a shutter system comprising a plurality of connectable subsystems of shutters that are connected via a shutter mating system which provides sufficient strength to obviate the need to drill locking holes during installation and connection. This accordion shutter system also offers a unique ability to secure doors, windows and openings of any size from forced entry and enables the user to operate from either side of the shutter system.

  • Patent number: 5661891
Abstract: A conduit assembly which has an inner sleeve and outer sleeve which are proportioned to be concentrically mounted, each of which has a longitudinal slot of approximately the same width is disclosed. The conduits are circular, and a detent is provided on the larger of the conduits to accept and nestingly receive the slot of the smaller conduit when the same is rotated to form a complete circular encasement of the wires or cables which are passed through the conduits. The method of the invention contemplates the steps of forming a hole through a wall, such as a firewall, thereafter, optionally, passing the wires through, or passing the inner and outer sleeve through, and then once the wires are in place, or in anticipation of the wires being inserted, rotating the inner sleeve within the outer sleeve until the sleeve slots are approximately diametrically opposed and the central sleeve slop is secured in the detent.
