  • Patent number: 6873907
Abstract: A navigation system that includes a graphic user interface displaying a plurality of icons. An icon selectively activated by a user input device is enlarged, animated, and includes a text flag indicating what the icon represents. Some of the icons are associated with a plurality of potential destinations for the navigation system. The icons are animated by displaying a plurality of frames sequentially. The first frame is a base frame full bit map which includes information for displaying all of the pixels of the icon. The second frame is displayed by changing only the pixels which are different between the first frame and the second frame based upon a transition file which only includes information for the pixels to be changed. A second transition file indicates the pixels to be changed between the second frame and the third frame, and so on. For icons with many potential frames, more than one base frame may be provided, so that any state can be reached more quickly.

  • Patent number: 6869113
Abstract: Security seals (1) are used to indicate that a closed container has remained closed throughout a journey or during transport to show that its contents have not been tampered with. Once fixed such seals can only be removed by destroying them. A padlock-type security seal (1) includes a recess (10) in its body (2) accessible from the front face which houses a locking collet (11). The collet (11), in use, locks the leading end (4) of the hasp (3) of the seal (1) into the body (2). A cap (12) is welded onto the body (2) to close the recess (10) and seal the collet (11) into the body (2). Preferably, the body (2) of the padlock-type seal is chosen to be a color which will give a good contrast with a barcode (14) applied to it. The color of the cap (12) can vary from that of the body (2) to enable an audit trail of the seals (1).

  • Patent number: 6863241
Abstract: An improved aircraft includes a thrust source, a wing, and a boom functioning as a “free lever” and having a distal end upon which the thrust is acting and a proximal end about which the boom is freely rotatable to balance forces acting on the proximal and distal ends of the boom. The proximal end is pivotably mounted at or below the center of lift of the wing and above the center of mass of the aircraft. The distal end is located above the center of mass of the aircraft, when the lever is in the vertical position to establish a gravity pendulum, and forward of the center of drag of the aircraft, when the lever is in the horizontal position, to establish a drag pendulum. All transition flight is a resolution of the force vectors of the two pendulums. A director adjusts the vertical and horizontal thrust components of the propulsion system.

  • Patent number: 6860659
Abstract: A recording deice includes a cylinder (1) of heat-sensitive ink ribbon (2), a rewinding cylinder (5), and a marking header (19). The device prevents unused segments of ribbon being left between markings. The device has a moving support (6) guiding the ribbon (2) along an additional path (16), a braking mechanism (10, 11, 12, 14) for the cylinder (1). When the ribbon (2)is tractioned and the cylinder is braked, the support (6) is forced to move against the action of an elastic element (13), reducing the additional path (16). Thus, after a marking (a-b) the ribbon and the support (6) move back to (c) so that the next marking (b-d) is made immediately after the first marking (a-b). The braking mechanism, after one or more markings, are released, unrolling a length of ribbon (2) from the cylinder, then braking again, with the process repeated.

  • Patent number: 6861977
Abstract: This invention relates to radar signal processing. In particular, this invention concerns signal processing of agile Pulse Repetition Time (PRT) sampled signal transmitted using spread spectrum technique. This invention solves, in particular, the incompatibility between Doppler processing and spread spectrum such providing an improved anti-jamming technique without narrowing the Doppler range. The method for deconvolution comprises combining the pulses with the same carrier in a burst, transforming the obtained signals from time to frequency domain, and deconvolving the obtained spectra. In a first embodiment of this invention, such a deconvolution method is adapted to irregular PRT sampled signal comprises an irregular samples to regular zero-padded samples conversion step between the combination and the transformation steps.

  • Patent number: 6859167
Abstract: A method used to increase the ambiguity distance of FSK radars implements a waveform made up of patterns consisting of frequency plateaux whose frequencies are alternately shifted by plus or minus a value ?f?. With this waveform, the method associates processing operations to eliminate ambiguous echoes and image signals. This method has the advantage of not modifying the repetition period of the radar to which it is applied. The method according to the invention can be applied especially to radars in automobiles and especially to anti-collision radars.
