  • Patent number: 4040031
Abstract: The disclosure describes a data processing system including a program memory for storing a first instruction at a first address and a second instruction at a second address. The system includes a look-ahead feature in which the second instruction is stored in a buffer register while the first instruction is being stored in an execution register and is simultaneously being executed. A gate circuit controls the transmission of data between the buffer register and the execution register. If a third instruction having a third address is read into the program memory while the first instruction is being executed, the second and third addresses are compared. If the second and third addresses are identical, the gate circuit is inhibited and the second instruction is prevented from being transmitted to the execution register. Instead, the third instruction or a portion thereof, is transmitted to the buffer and execution registers, so that the third instruction is executed in place of the second instruction.

  • Patent number: 4038604
Abstract: A radio receiver squelch circuit responds to an IF carrier modulated by any of AM voice, AM pulse, CW, interrupted CW, or angle modulated signals. After the IF carrier is amplitude normalized it is supplied to a network for deriving a D.C. voltage having an amplitude indicative of the signal to noise level of the normalized IF. The signal to noise level indicating circuit includes a detector for deriving a waveform that is a replica of the envelope of the normalized IF. In response to the envelope amplitude being above a predetermined threshold level, indicative of the presence of a signal, a capacitor is discharged by a constant current source. In response to the envelope being below the predetermined level for an initial predetermined time, the capacitor is charged by a constant current source. In response to the envelope amplitude being below the predetermined level for in excess of the initial predetermined time, the capacitor is charged by a much smaller current.

  • Patent number: 4036089
Abstract: The assembly is for shearing rod sections with a movable cutter carriage carrying a shearing blade between a resting position and a shearing position. A reciprocating impact head is used to drive the cutter carriage. The impact head is moved into contact with an adjacent end of the cutter carriage to effect motion of the cutter carriage to the shearing position. The cutter carriage is biased toward the impact head and the resting position to effect the return stroke motion of the cutter carriage. The contact of the impact head with the adjacent end of the cutter carriage is broken on completion of the return stroke to draw the impact head a predetermined distance back to a starting position from which the impact head is ready to strike the adjacent end of the cutter carriage with considerable momentum upon the starting of the next shearing cycle.

  • Patent number: 4036535
Abstract: In a braking fluid pressure control device, a push rod engages against a blind end of a bore extending inwardly and axially with respect to a plunger. Between the plunger and the push rod, the bore provides clearance increasing from the blind end of the bore toward an open end thereof. The push rod projects from the open end of the bore outside the plunger and engages against a plunger seat slidably fitted in a housing bore. The push rod is biased by a spring which is compressed between the plunger seat and a piston. As a result, a radial force is prevented from acting on the plunger as the plunger is urged by the piston. This avoids damage to an inner wall by the plunger increasing the durability of the control device.

  • Patent number: 4031866
Abstract: In a closed loop electronic fuel injection control unit having a basic fuel schedule in response to engine operating conditions, the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gases is detected and compared with a desired value to provide an error signal. The error signal is shaped to form a series of binary pulses of alternating voltages of constant amplitude in correspondence with the plus and minus deviation from the reference voltage which represents the desired oxygen quantity. The binary pulses are amplified by a variable gain amplifier to provide a signal which is used to adjust the basic fuel schedule. The time duration of each binary pulse is measured by a counter to provide an output when a pulse width reaches a predetermined interval. The counter output is coupled to the amplifier to increase the amplifier gain to change the rate of fuel supply.

  • Patent number: 4028915
Abstract: A lever arm lock for a conventional quick-release hub assembly includes a cover mountable to a first skewer rod end nut supporting a quick-release lever arm. The cover is secured to the end nut with a locking mechanism (combination, magnetic, key, etc.) and maintains the lever arm in a locked position making it impossible to remove the hub. A second skewer rod end nut opposite the first end nut is formed with a substantially smooth outer surface that is continuously inclined with respect to the axle. This surface configuration prevents removal of the locked hub assembly by turning the second end nut with a pliers or other tool. The lever arm lock also prevents the hub from being jarred loose on impact with curbs, rocks, etc. The end nut assemblies have extensions which abut the frame thereby preventing loosening thereof for unauthorized removal.
