Abstract: A semiconductor memory device comprises a p.sup.- -type semiconductor substrate (1), p.sup.+ -type regions (15, 80) formed thereon, n.sup.+ -type regions (6, 7) surrounded with the p.sup.+ -type regions (15, 80), a first gate electrode (2) formed on a charge storage region in the n.sup.+ -type region (6), and a second gate electrode (3) formed on the p.sup.+ -type region (80) and serving as a word line. The p.sup.+ -type regions (15, 80) prevent passage of electrons out of electron-hole pairs induced by alpha rays so as to prevent occurrence of soft errors. An oxide film (16) is formed on the side wall of the second gate electrode (3), a titanium silicide film (17) is formed on the n.sup.+ -type regions (6, 7) and a titanium silicide film (18) is formed on the second gate electrode (3) in a self-aligning manner. Therefore, increase of interconnection resistance of the second gate electrode (3 ) and diffusion resistance of the n.sup.+ -type regions (6, 7) is prevented.
Abstract: A gas laser apparatus includes an insulating material layer covering the outside of a pair of metal electrodes disposed on the outer peripheral surface of a dielectric discharge tube. The insulating material layer thus provided electrically separates the metal electrodes and prevents a dielectric tube which would otherwise occur through an air gap between adjacent portions of the metal electrodes when a high-frequency voltage is applied across the metal electrodes.

Abstract: Each of memory cells in a nonvolatile content-addressable memory (CAM) comprises a first memory transistor connected to a first storage node, a second memory transistor connected to a second storage node, and a memory capacitor connected between said first and second storage nodes. The first storage node is connected to a first bit line through an MOS transistor, and the second storage node is connected to a second bit line through the MOS transistor. In addition, each of the memory cells has a function of determining whether or not information applied to the first and second bit lines and information applied to the first and second storage nodes match with each other. In the nonvolatile CAM, writing and reading by a DRAM operation become possible by using the memory capacitor in each of the memory cells. In addition, in the nonvolatile CAM, nonvolatile writing and reading by an EEPROM operation become possible by using the first and second memory transistors in each of the memory cells.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for forming a base sheet with a plurality of original films precisely stripped, i.e., affixed on it in a predetermined layout for use in a photomechanical process for printing a book. The apparatus includes a unit for receiving and storing information relating to a plurality of original films outputting position data of each of the plurality of original films to be affixed to the base sheet; a unit for forming register holes on each of the original films based on the position data; a unit for placing each of the original films in a predetermined position on the base sheets based on the register holes and the position data, and a unit for fixing each of the original films in its respective predetermined position on the base sheet. In another aspect of the invention there is provided a method for forming an intermediate original sheet using the above described apparatus and including the steps of operating each of the above mentioned units of such apparatus.
Abstract: A fuel delivery control apparatus for use with an engine operable on either of gasoline fuel and gasoline/alcohol fuel blend. The amount of fuel metered to the engine is controlled based upon engine operating conditions. A first correction factor is set at a value calculated based upon a signal from an alcohol concentration sensor to correct the amount of fuel metered to the engine. A second correction factor is set based upon a signal from an oxygen sensor to correct the amount of fuel metered to the engine so as to provide an air/fuel ratio feedback control. In the event of failure of the alcohol concentration sensor, the first correction factor is estimated by modifying it based upon the signal from the oxygen sensor and a difference between the calculated and estimated values of the first correction factor is calculated.
Abstract: In a switching power supply controlled by modulated width pulses obtained by comparison between a saw-tooth voltage (15) oscillating between first and second levels and a servo control voltage (19), the servo control voltage is initially set to a value external to the oscillation interval of the saw-tooth, then, in a first phase, varies up to a first level (dead time) and, in a second phase, varies from the first to the second level for supplying control pulses having progressively increasing widths. A circuit (45, 50) ensures the variation of the servo control voltage during the first phase according to a first slope and then the variation of said servo control voltage during the second phase according to a second slope, lower than the first one, and a circuit (60) causes the slope switching after the detection of the first control pulse.
Abstract: This device relates to graphics apparatus of the pen-plotter type comprising a plotter head which is moveable in a horizontal direction Y and supports a writing instrument which is vertically moveable (Z direction) on the head. Each writing instrument bears an identification surface the location of which along the Z direction depends on the instrument type. The apparatus further includes a fixed abutment. The instrument type is identified by detecting the vertical position of the instrument when the identification surface is brought into contact with the abutment. For greater accuracy, a differential measurement can be obtained between this vertical position and a reference position obtained by bringing a reference surface of the instrument into contact with a reference abutment.
Abstract: A noise shaping quantization D/A converter in which an input digital signal is supplied to a single-integration sigma delta modulation circuit having quantization levels which include zero level, with a quantization error signal from the single-integration circuit being supplied to a double-integration noise shaping quantization circuit having quantization levels which also include zero level, and an output signal from the double-integration circuit being differentiated and summed with the single-integration circuit output to obtain a bit-compressed digital signal for D/A conversion. Offset of the analog output signal during a zero hold status of the input digital signal is eliminated, and increased efficiency of supply voltage utilization is attained, together with increased S/N ratio.

Abstract: An electroacoustic diaphragm is provided, which diaphragm comprising a pyrolytic graphite film obtained from a polymer selected from polyoxadiazole, an aromatic polyimide obtained by polycondensation or pyromellitic acid and an aromatic diamine, polybenzthiazole, polybenzbisthiazole, polybenzoxazole, polybenzbisoxazole, poly(pyromellitimide), poly(m-phenyleneisophthalamide). poly(m-phenylenebenzoimidazole), poly(m-phenylenebenzobisimidazole), polythiazole and poly-p-phenylenevinylene. The graphite film has a discontinuous layer of a polymeric material formed on and in the film whereby not only good electroacoustic characteristics, but also good mechanical strength and good adhesion of an adhesive applied thereof are obtained. A method for fabricating such diaphragm is also described.

Abstract: A combination lock for a safe or the like is provided that is fully computerized and self powered. A rotary dial is connected to a stepper motor/generator to provide the electrical power to a capacitor to power the system. The stepper motor/generator also provides input signals in the form of a code sequence to a microprocessor that processes the signals to initiate the operation of a drive motor to release a lock bolt once the proper combination is dialed. A read only memory (ROM) determines the proper combination from a combination storage means and feeds the combination to the microprocessor for comparison to the inputted signals from the dial. As each combination dialing sequence is begun, a random code initiator provides a different starting position in the sequence so that electronic or visual surveillance equipment cannot be used to surreptitiously obtain the combination.

Abstract: A container (1), such as a yogurt or cream pot, is of tube-like form with a side wall of circular cross-section tapering towards the base (2) from an open mouth (3). The base and mouth comprise opposite ends of the container. A flange plate (4) surrounds the open mouth (3) and is provided with sockets in the form of through holes (5) punched through each of the four corners. The base (2) of the container has a central cruciform projection (6) and in the angles between each pair of arms of the cruciform a projecting plug or stud (7) is formed. The holes (5) and studs (7) comprise mutually interchangeable connection parts. A plurality of like containers (1) can, when empty, be assembled in a desired spatial relationship by interengaging a stud (7) in a hole (5). The building system so formed thus forms a knock-down constructional toy.

Abstract: In a picture-quality improving circuit, a luminance transition is detected on the basis of a luminance signal. Chroma edge characteristics of a color signal are enhanced in accordance with the detected luminance transition. A detection is made as to whether the color signal and the luminance signal are correlated or uncorrelated in transition. When the color signal and the luminance signal are uncorrelated in transition, the enhancement of the chroma edge characteristics of the color signal is interrupted.
Abstract: A metal-made carrier body is fabricated for an exhaust gas cleaning catalyst. At least one sheet-like metal band and at least one corrugated metal band, each of said bands being made of a thin metal sheet, are superposed one over the other so as to establish contacts therebetween, thereby forming a multi-layered composite body defining a number of network-patterned gas flow passages along the central axis thereof. The composite body is dipped in an electroless plating bath capable of forming a brazing coating layer on the composite body so as to form a brazing coating layer at least in the vicinity of each contact except for the contact itself. The composite body is then subjected to a heat treatment so as to braze the contacts between the sheet-like metal band and corrugated metal band. Before dipping the composite body in the plating bath, it may optionally be enclosed in a cylindrical metal casing. The composite body and cylindrical metal casing are also brazed together at their mutual contacts.
Abstract: A laser anemometer with several measurement directions is disclosed, in which an incident beam (3) is intercepted by two disks (91, 92) having a common axis which are driven in rotation about this axis. The two disks are provided with transparent and reflecting sectors arranged so that the incident beam successively follows three different paths (3x, 3y, 3z). The axis common to the two disks intersects the axis of the incident beam (3). Mirrors reflect the directed beam in mutually orthogonal directions defining a three-dimensional orthogonal reference system in which the three components of the speed may be successively measured. The anemometer of the invention is particularly suitable for the measurement of the three components of the speed of an aircraft with respect to still air.
Abstract: An embodiment of the transmission system comprises an MSK linear-modular transmitter and an MSK differentially coherent receiver connected by a transmission medium 3. A system embodying the invention is essentially characterized by filters in the receiver including analog or digital equalizers and by a differential encoding carried out on symbols of a message to be transmitted by a differential encoder included in the transmitter. The function of the equalizer is to eliminate intersymbol inteference in received signals. The differential encoding carried out is such that a coded symbol of rank k issued by the encoder depends on the corresponding symbol of the message and on the coded symbol of rank k-M, whereby M is an odd integer preferably greater than 1. On reception the probability of decision error with regard to a received symbol is all the lower that the integer M is high. The value M=3 is an appropriate value.
Abstract: Disclosed is an electric heat-convection stove, which is comprised of a base having set therein a heat-convection mechanism covered with a transparent hood of reinforcing glass and defining therein a roasting chamber for cooking, which transparent hood is built up with four zinc alloy posts, a front panel, three side boards and a top board, with the gap therebetween well sealed with silicone rubber strips. A perforated tray is mounted on the heat-convection mechanism for circulation of heat current and for collection of grease. Transverse notches are made on the zinc alloy posts at different level positions for adjustably mounting a grill inside the hood to hold something for roasting. The front panel is pivoted to the base so that it can be conveniently opened for putting something in or removing something from the grill.
Abstract: An apparatus for reading out a charge latent image from a recording medium includes a photo-modulation member exposed to an electric field from the recording medium and exposed to reading light. The photo-modulation member varies a condition of the reading light in accordance with the electric field. A photoconductive member is disposed between the recording medium and the photo-modulation member. Control light is applied to the photoconductive member. The control light has an intensity which varies with respect to time.
