  • Patent number: 4982584
Abstract: A steering lock system for locking a steering system of an automotive vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission. The steering lock system is comprised of a selector position sensor for detecting a selected position of a selector lever for the automatic transmission. The selector position sensor is adapted to produce a parking position signal when the selector lever is at a park position. A key cylinder is rotatable to take a LOCK position by an ignition key insertable into the key cylinder. The ignition key is enabled to be pulled out of the key cylinder at the LOCK position, upon which a steering shaft is locked. The ignition key is disabled from being pulled out of the key cylinder upon absence of the parking position signal from the selector position sensor while is enabled to be pulled out of the key cylinder only in response to the parking position signal from the selector position sensor, thereby improving reliability of operation of the steering lock system.

  • Patent number: 4984210
Abstract: In a dynamic random access memory (DRAM), there is provided a refresh decision circuit which detects the external designation of a self refresh mode, in addition to a CAS before RAS refresh mode, by RAS and CAS signals. By detecting a time period of one cycle of the RAS, the self refresh mode is determined. As a result, the timing of change of the RAS signal is less restricted.

  • Patent number: 4984275
Abstract: Power information from an input signal is used to detect the presence of speech. A reference point is established as the moment of detection of the speech. During a period between the reference point and a subsequent point distant from the reference point by a predetermined range, the input signal is linearly changed to a corresponding signal having a predetermined period. Feature parameters are extracted from the signal with the predetermined period. The feature parameters are replaced by preset noise parameters in a portion having no speech component therein. Standard speech patterns of particular preset words are determined and similarities between the extracted feature parameters containing the noise parameters and the standard patterns are calculated and mutually compared. The foregoing steps are performed while the separations are varied within the predetermined range. Similar steps are performed as the reference point is shifted by a unit period, and similarities are calculated and mutually compared.

  • Patent number: 4982339
Abstract: Tissue signatures are obtained from first and second order statistics of an image texture to discriminate between different normal tissues and to detect abnormal conditions. These signatures described intrinsic backscatter properties of the tissue imaged and are used as the basis of an automatic tissue characterization algorithm. A device for on-line classifying of the texture of an image measures a total of four first and second order statistical properties of echo signals of a region of interest (ROI) selected by an operator, the echo signals being contained in an image memory. These can be used to obtain the tissue signatures, to detect low contrast lesions by machine, and to produce parametric images.

  • Patent number: 4982368
Abstract: A dynamic semiconductor memory comprising memory cells arranged in a matrix of row and columns, a half of the memory cells being formed into sub-array #1 and the remaining half into sub-array #2. One of a plurality of bit lines included in sub-array #1 and one of a plurality of bit lines included in sub-array #2 constitute a bit line pair. Each of a plurality of word lines corresponding to the columns is divided into a first word line belonging to sub-array #1 and a second word line belonging to sub-array #2. When one of word lines is selected, a potential is applied to one of the first or second word line. As a result, when the information charge of a memory cell is output to certain bit line pair, a reading operation does not take place for the bit lines adjacent thereto, with the latter maintained at a predetermined potential. Thus, the bit line pair is free from the influence of noise due to a potential variation of the adjacent bit lines and the influence of the potential within the bit line pair itself.

  • Patent number: 4981377
Abstract: A printer of a type ensuring a rapid and easy shift between a mode for effecting printing onto a continuous form and another mode for printing onto a cut sheet, comprises a delivery unit pivotally supported by a printer body frame. When the delivery unit is held at its first operational position wherein a platen fixed to the same unit is disposed close to a printing head, a continuous form delivered from tractors is further delivered along a continuous form feeding path which forms a flat plane, and printing is performed on the aforementioned platen of the delivery unit. On the other hand, when a cassette is mounted to the printer after the delivery unit is moved downward up to a second operational position, a cut sheet delivered from the cassette is delivered along a cut sheet feeding path which forms the same plane as the aforesaid flat plane, to be printed on a platen fixed to the cassette.
