  • Patent number: 4980885
Abstract: A device embodying the invention for a packet time-division switcher comprises essentially a circuit for detecting beginnings and ends of load interruption periods in the switcher, and a period counter. The detecting circuit is connected to a plurality of input buffer quenes of the switcher and detects a load interruption when all queues signal a state of packet emptiness. A time base of the switcher is inhibited at the end of a period of predetermined duration established by the counter and following the detection of a load interruption. Said duration is predetermined so as to complete the switching of a packet that has been begun. Once the time base is inhibited, the operating of the switcher is interrupted and its power consumption becomes very low. The time base is freed as soon as a packet is received by the queues, and the switcher resumes operating.

  • Patent number: 4978629
Abstract: A MOS transistor comprises source and drain impurity regions on a surface of a silicon substrate. The source and drain regions have a double diffusion structure including impurity regions of high concentration and impurity regions of low concentration surrounding the high-concentration impurity regions. Outgoing electrode layers of polysilicon are formed on surfaces of the source and drain impurity regions. A gate electrode is formed to partially extend over the outgoing electrode layers for the source and drain impurity regions. The source and drain impurity regions are formed by implanting impurities into the electrode layers and subsequently diffusing the impurities into the semiconductor substrate by thermal diffusion. Those processes of impurity implantation and thermal diffusion are effected after completion of the step of patterning the gate electrode.

  • Patent number: 4978826
Abstract: A high-frequency dielectric oven uses a plurality of oscillating circuits, which are caused to operate in a predetermined phase relationship, to produce a higher voltage distribution within a load capacitor, thus permitting an increase in the space between the electrode plates of the load capacitor to enable use of the oven for heating commercial quantitites of foodstuff. The generated electric field has a distribution which minimizes the number of nodes of a standing wave, thus reducing the occurrences of cold spots in the heating cavity. A plurality of tray levels are provided, each level having a separate pair of electrodes generating the electric field therefor. The electrodes may be shaped to provide direct support for the trays. Power transferred to the foodstuff is controlled by a variable air gap capacitor and the power tube operates at a substantially constant power level, irrespective of the power being transferred to the foodstuff.

  • Patent number: 4977451
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for automatic surveillance of a site by recording data collected by a video camera 3 upon the occurrence of an incidental event (e.g. a road accident). The apparatus comprises an accident detector and a video tape recorder equipped with a controller device that causes the recorder to operate on successive sections of the magnetic tape, each section corresponding to a sequence of predetermined length. At the end of recording on each section, the controller determines whether to continue recording images either repeatedly on the same section after returning to the beginning thereof, in the case of there being no accident or, in the case of an accident, recording the images onto the following section. The autonomy of the magnetic tape recorder is thereby considerably increased.

  • Patent number: 4977464
Abstract: An image signal (PS) or a screen threshold value (D) is converted by a plurality of conversion functions (F.sub.i, G.sub.i, f.sub.i, g.sub.i). The number (N.sub.ST) of reference solid pixels, which should be exposed to attain a halftone area rate specified by a given image signal, is calculated for each quarter block (QB) which is a quarter of one unit block for one halftone dot. The numbers (N.sub.RS) of virtual solid pixels, which would be exposed if the converted image signal or the converted screen threshold value were used, are calculated concerning respective conversion functions for each quarter block. The number (N.sub.RS) of virtual solid pixels which is the closest to the number (N.sub.ST) of reference solid pixels is selected and the conversion function corresponding to the selected number (N.sub.RS) is also selected for each quarter block (QB).

  • Patent number: 4977542
Abstract: An arrangement for providing a compensation of capacitance coupling between word lines and bit lines in a memory structure including twisted bit lines. Two dummy word lines maintained at a predetermined potential are formed at a twisted portion of a pair of bit lines. Dummy cells are provided at respective twisted portions of the dummy word lines and the bit lines. A plurality of word lines are formed in a direction intersecting with the bit lines and the word lines are divided into four word line groups according to positions of the twisted portions of the bit line pairs. When an arbitrary word line is selected, a potential of at least one dummy word line corresponding to the word line group to which the selected word line belongs is lowered. Consequently, the rise of the potential of the bit lines caused by the selection of the word line is compensated for by the lowering of the potential of at least one dummy word line, making it possible to decrease errors in reading.
