  • Patent number: 4613973
Abstract: A system, including methods and apparatus, requiring digital communication between two devices using radio frequency communications to provide the link. Apparatus for decoding a digital data stream is provided, which data stream has been imposed on a base band signal where the rate of data transmission is as high as twice the frequency of the base band signal. A differential amplifier is employed to recognize the beginning and end of a segment of a wave cycle which represents a digital bit.

  • Patent number: 4613804
Abstract: Apparatus and method by which an unmanned, trackless, work-producing vehicle is able to follow a path defined by a passive metallic marker or markers or by which the vehicle can receive information represented by passive metallic markers. Metallic markers can be secured or applied to appropriate surfaces, such as the floor surface of a vehicle work area, and do not need to be connected to any signal-generating device. An alternating magnetic field is generated by a master coil carried on the vehicle. The alternating magnetic field produces a secondary field around the metallic marker. Both magnetic fields produce voltages in a plurality of spaced secondary coils located on the vehicle. The existence of the metallic marker as a bench mark is identified by comparing the phases of voltages produced by the primary and secondary fields in each separate secondary coil. This excludes any stray fields, which may be extraneously produced in the secondary coils.

  • Patent number: 4587732
Abstract: A novel hydraulic tool used to cut cables, rods, bars and the like or crimp various items such as cable connectors and which is operated manually and with ease by a single man. The improved cable cutting hydraulic tool comprises dual manually held handles which centrally receive and exhaust the operating pressurized hyraulic fluid, a safety trigger assembly which prevents the inadvertent closing of the cutting or crimping jaws, and an operating trigger assembly, a control valve which directs and redirects the flow of hydraulic fluid under pressure, and a piston cylinder assembly which relatively reciprocates to displace operating rods which in turn causes the cutting jaws to close and open by rotation about a pivot pin. This cable cutting and crimping tool is light weight and compact in comparison with other contemporary designs and is much easier to handle and control during use.

  • Patent number: 4580317
Abstract: The disclosed portable hanger comprises two cantilevered rigid support arms pivotably joined only at the proximal ends thereof at a central connection site so as to establish and maintain a predetermined included angle between the two arms during use. The carcass is releasibly supported on hooks carried at the distal end of each arm, while the hanger itself is suspended at eyelet structure located directly adjacent to the central arm connection site. Each carcass engaging hook is pivotably connected at the distal end of the associated arm. The arms and eyelet structure may be rotated into a superimposed relationship for storage and portability. When oppositely rotated, the mentioned included angle is rigidly established by a stop tab carried by the eyelet structure and interposed between the arms adjacent the central connection site.

  • Patent number: 4577874
Abstract: A two element, high and low pressure seal assembly to be used in a hydraulic or pneumatic sealing environment between two relatively movable machine parts, the seal assembly comprising a spring element, circular or rectangular in cross-section and made of a relatively soft elastomeric material, and spring element being substantially contiguously surrounded along all but a small exposed area and contained within an annular slot of a house-shaped elastomeric annular sealing member whereby an integral assembly is formed for easy installation and unitary response. The house-shaped sealing element comprises a central body from which two anti-extrusion legs radially extend. The legs are located fore and aft of the spring element within an annular peripheral groove in one machine part and are disposed perpendicular or radial to the axis of said machine part.

  • Patent number: 4576102
Abstract: A system for removal of tramp or trash material from a single fluidized bed contained within a single vessel used to incinerate or pyrolyze solid fuel, the system comprises a gently sloped, skewed or serpentine stationary bed support and air distributor structure which distributes air in a fashion so as to uniformly fluidize a shallow bed of variable depth across the slope thereof without internally circulating the bed, and at the same time cause non-combustible tramp or trash material (e.g. pieces of steel, rocks, clumps, etc.), to be removed from the bed without passing to a location either above or beneath the bed. The angle of slope is strictly controlled. During periods of non-fluidization and/or non-use, the bed material is kept from falling into the air distribution plenum below the bed support structure by hollow bed containment structure disposed at sites below the bed support structure.

  • Patent number: 4569344
Abstract: A ventilating and aspirating assembly comprising an aspirating catheter tube internally disposed within and coextensive with a surrounding flexible collapsible sterility preserving film envelope, a connector by which ventilating air is involuntarily delivered to and exhausted from the lungs of a medical patient, said connector comprising structure which accommodates the manual insertion of the catheter tube into and manual removal from the trachea/bronchi patient through the connector. This facilitates aspiration of undesired respiratory fluids.

  • Patent number: 4531121
Abstract: A visual display element, which may be used singly or as part of a large bank or like and similar elements, each element comprising an encasement, a slotted plate, and an actuating assembly. The actuating assembly comprises a planar face with a colored pattern of lines thereon and is situated immediately behind and parallel to the slotted plate. When viewed from the front, the planar face and adjacent slotted plate, the slots of said plate comprising highly reflective surfaces, which collectively appear as a solid color. Selective relative movement between the planar face and the slotted plate causes the visually perceived color to change from one color to a contrasting color and thereafter back to the original color.
