Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a process for inhibiting the formation and deposition of iron oxide in aqueous systems using at least 0.1 ppm of an admixture of:(A) a water-soluble polymer having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.05 to 2.5 dl/g, prepared from:(i) 35 to 90%, by weight, of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, or its salt; and(ii) 10 to 65%, by weight, of an unsaturated sulfonic acid, or its salt; and(B) a water-soluble polymer having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.05 to 2.5 dl/g, prepared from:(i) 35 to 90%, by weight, of an unsaturated carboxylic acid, or its salt; and(ii) 10 to 65%, by weight, of an unsaturated pendant polyalkylene oxide compound.The instant invention is also directed to an admixture of:(A) a water soluble polymer, having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.05 to 2.

Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a method for preparing free-flowing, water-soluble polymer gels comprising:(a) reducing the size of water-soluble polymer gels by a size-reduction means, so as to produce polymer gel particles which are less than 1/2 inch in their longest dimension; and(b) adding to the size-reduced polymer gels of Step (a) 0.001 to 20 percent, by weight, of an amphipathic compound, thereby reducing the adhesion of said gel particles to themselves and other substances.The instant invention is also directed to a free-flowing, water-soluble polymer gel admixture comprising:(a) size-reduced, water-soluble polymer gel particles, wherein said gel particles are less than 1/2 inch in their longest dimension; and(b) an amphipathic compound.

Abstract: A fluid dispenser for dispensing liquid detergents, soaps and germicides. A pressure plate imparts a squeezing force to a flexible reservoir containing the liquid material to force the material therefrom. A battery operated photoelectric device is positioned adjacent the dispensing valve which is opened for a timed period upon locating an object such as a hand, near the photoelectric device. Also, a device is provided to control the power to the photoelectric device upon sensing the condition of the ambient room lighting.

Abstract: The instant invention is directed to a slurry for use in coating silicon steel prior to high temperature annealing, comprising magnesium oxide, water and at least one inorganic compound selected from the group consisting of barium oxide, barium nitrate, chromium nitrate, and their hydrates.The instant invention is also directed to a process for coating silicon steel, comprising coating the steel with a magnesium oxide slurry prior to high temperature annealing, the improvement wherein at least one inorganic compound selected from the group consisting of barium oxide, barium nitrate, chromium nitrate, and their hydrates is pre-mixed in said slurry, thereby minimizing the formation of "tight magnesia" on the steel.
