  • Patent number: 5648049
Abstract: A purging electrostatic gun for uniformly and essentially completely electrostatically charging the outer surfaces of a flow of sorbent material particles passed therethrough under pressure that are then injected into a polluted gas stream for contacting to electrostatically attract and react to pollutant particles and pollutant gases in that gas stream that are then removed in a conventional pollution control filtration device. The purging electrostatic gun includes a housing wherein a charging electrode is maintained that is electrically coupled to receive a high voltage and is axially centered in a cylindrical barrel charging section wherethrough a laminar flow of sorbent material is directed. The charging electrode has a forward portion that extends beyond a barrel charging section forward end and is immediately opposite to a surface of a grounding ring or collar. The grounding ring or collar is maintained in the housing and is connected to earth ground.

  • Patent number: 5647471
Abstract: A coin vending machine body liner and locking plate as a coin safe that is for original installation or retrofitting in a conventional coin operated vending machine where, with the deposit of an appropriate coin in a coin mechanism and turning of that coin mechanism handle, a measured volume of product, such as loose candy, nuts, or the like, will vend from a chute in a front face of the vending machine and onto a person's hand. The liner is formed from a plastic material for closely fitting into the machine body, is closed across its bottom end, and has its top end arranged to be covered over by a locking plate that is includes a lock for maintaining the locking plate secured across the liner top end. The combination of the liner, that is closed across its bottom end, and the locking plate, provides a coin safe for maintaining coins therein as have passed through the coin mechanism.

  • Patent number: 5632441
Abstract: An elevating mailbox consisting of a housing that is open therethrough and is closed across a top end by a cap, with the housing to telescope into and out of a ground sleeve that is seated in a hole in the ground adjacent to a road way, and providing a sealing arrangement for discouraging water entry into the ground sleeve. The housing includes a mail receiving cavity that is exposed when the housing is in an elevated attitude. A screw jack is maintained to a bottom of the ground sleeve to extend and retract a screw from a nut arranged across a cylinder when the screw is turned, with a screw top end journaled to the housing to lift and lower the housing, with the screw arranged to be turned by operation of an electric motor that is operated by a remote control connected through wires to operate at set times and on demand, and including limit switches for turning off motor operation at upper and lower limits of housing travel into and out of the ground sleeve.

  • Patent number: 5591412
Abstract: An electrostatic gun for electrostatically charging and injecting sorbent particles into a flue gas stream to contact, and electrostatically charge, pollution particles in that flue gas stream. The electrostatic gun is for inclusion as a component of an apparatus for the remediation of pollution particles from a flue gas stream whereafter the clean gas flow is vented to atmosphere. The electrostatic gun receives laminar flow of a selected sorbent material and charges, either positively or negatively, the surface of each sorbent particle in that flow. To provide electrostatic charging to the individual particles, the flow is directed through a straight barrel of a housing of the electrostatic gun to pass alongside a charging wand that is centered axially in the straight barrel. The charging wand is connected to receive a voltage from a high voltage power supply to produce a corona discharge wherethrough the sorbent materials pass to electrostatically charge each sorbent particle.

  • Patent number: 5516333
Abstract: The invention in a torque responsive actuator device for a belt drive system as is commonly utilized with snowmobile and like type vehicles. An actuator cover plate of the invention is connected by rods to a lower half of a split pulley, with the upper pulley half mounting a helix or cam cone extending towards the actuator cover plate undersurface that includes a plurality of cam tracks formed therein that are each to receive a cam follower for travel therealong that extends from the actuator cover plate undersurface. Movement of the actuator cover plate towards the top face of the pulley upper half is thereby translated through the rods to spread the pulley upper and lower halves apart, opening a V slot therebetween to a drive belt that is maintained therein.

  • Patent number: 5508681
Abstract: A closed automatic system for removing (for facilitating the removal) and safely storing potentially contaminated medical (or other) needles in which the operator only uses one hand to operate the system. The system has a counter which counts the number of actuations of the needle sensor. When a predetermined limit is reached the device signals the operator that the safe is nearly full. A further fixed number of needles can then be removed, when that limit is reached, a fuse on the safe is blown causing the system to be inoperative until a new box is installed. Removal of the box also causes the fuse to be blown and the circuit is disabled until a new box is inserted. The safe storage box contains a tab which when fixed in the locked position can not be opened except upon the application of substantial force with a tool. The system uses a Motorola 705 EPROM or similar microcontroller. (Motorola product literature is incorporated by reference herein.
